  1. I’m actually not so sure. Probably can get a huge payday for 1 year and be back on the market bc of the coaching change. And they’d have to realize it can’t be a worse coach. So basically you’re signing with the worst team and coach in the league but they’re overpaying you on a 1-year deal. You know going in you won’t make the tournament but $$$$$. This would then be horrible bc we will have a team full of players that don’t care one iota about IU and only here for the money. Which is what we’ll get regardless as long as MW is around.
  2. These boosters would get a lot more for their money if instead of increasing NIL each year by $2 million we offer it all to Scott Drew. I know there were issues with the Hanner thing but we’re going to hold a grudge on a player who wasn’t even good enough to play here anyway? Drew makes 5.1 million. Pay him $6.5-7 and make him 3rd highest behind Cal and Self. Pearl is at 5.7 so they have to be talking close to that range anyway. $4 mil NIL + Drew > $6 mil NIL Woodson
  3. It also makes zero sense from the point of him wanting to hand over the program in better position. Any transfer he does get could just transfer right back out after a coaching change. And if we get a top level coach, he can probably bring in better talent than Woodson anyway. There just simply is no upside but I don’t think there’s any chance he gets fired this year. He would have to step down. If he has a bad portal season we won’t know until late May/early June. It’s too late to make a move at that point. Other candidates then balking bc they couldn’t hit the portal. So next season will be ridden out with Woody to appease his ego and his buddies.
  4. Probably something atrocious like next season will be Woody’s last, but Rosemond will be coach in waiting and will take over duties for the 2025-26 season.
  5. If I were him, I’d see what Woody could put together. Sure he will have a chance to average 25pts but someone has to score. And if the team stinks on July 1. If I were him, I’d leave. Other schools would be able to come up with the money no matter how late into portal season it is for someone or his skill level.
  6. If IU is only matching NIL for Reneau, Mbagko, and anyone else in the portal, kiss them goodbye. I’m not sure which situation IU would win out if NIL was the same. IU is going to have to overpay for every single transfer and for their own guys. Sounds like they already did for Leal and Galloway.
  7. We have the worst boosters in all of collegiate athletics. The only group who only cares about having “their guy” over winning. We need a new group of billionaire alumni to rise up.
  8. Just have to constantly stay up on this board even though it’s been slow. I know as soon as Yeagley gives his update it’s going to pop off for 20 pages.
  9. Thats all his staff is. They’re all known as recruiters. I’m not sure any of them are known for teaching, scouting or anything else.
  10. Almost like Leal had a coach that, wait for it, wanted to quit.
  11. He yelled wake up, talking to Hill but the ref thought he was speaking to him
  12. I realize they were ranked to start the season but 25-7, a win over a top 5 team and 5 of their 7 losses were by 4 points or less. Competitive in every game. Can’t be said about a MW coached team.
  13. I honestly don’t know how anyone can watch this game, and there be any defending Mike Woodson and staff. I understand the players may like playing for him, but I’m not sure why. This is one of the worst coaching jobs I’ve seen at this level. There is no future for this program with Mike Woodson. A 66 year old who simply doesn’t want to put in the amount of time that is required of the role. HOW CAN ANYONE DEFEND THIS MAN!??
  14. If I won, I’d be sitting down with Scott and say, I have 20 million that can go to IU basketball as soon as Woodson is fired. If not, Cigs gets it.
  15. Yes. The NCAA has zero power to stop them. Even if they tried, the schools and states would lawyer up and sue the NCAA. Virginia and Tennessee already did. There is no governing body so it’s chaos. And there truly is no cap. So even though IU may have upped their NIL by 33%, the entirety across the board may have gone up 20%. So it’s not the increase everyone might think it is.
  16. I don’t agree with this. Each year there are candidates. Every few years there are some excellent/elite candidates. Seems this could be a year for the latter and not just landing a candidate.
  17. In my opinion Dolson has 2 options 1) Take the risk of firing Woodson, who 99.9% of people know isn’t the guy. And swing for a guy like Dusty who could rocket ship the IU program back. or 2) Stand by Woodson. Given another season and risk his own head getting chopped for backing Mw longer than he should have.
  18. There is not a single thing Woodson could say that would make me believe anything leading to a successful 2024-25 season. And success is defined by reaching the 2nd weekend of the tournament.
  19. Wrong here Chris. Mike Woodson doesn’t recruit 4 year players.
  20. UNC also returned 2 staters that have like 10 years of college experience and played in a national championship game 2 years ago. I agree though if we return Gallo, Malik, and MM that’s a decent core. But those 3 aren’t as good as RJ Davis and Bacot.
  21. We don’t need just a grand slam. We need a Fernando Tatis 2 grand slams in 1 inning portal.
  22. There wasn’t a major love affair with the Woodson hire 3 years ago. Excitement generated when he was able to keep TJD, but the season played out and the team lost 5 in a row in February making IU on the outside looking into the tournament. They made it to a play-in game. Not what many would call a resounding success with an all American on the roster, but it was year 1. Year 2 excitement with the Reneau and JHS commits. Bigger expectations with Race and TJD back for even another year. Season started off good. Molly whopped by Arizon and Kansas letting everyone know we weren’t as good as those early wins over Xavier and UNC suggested. Started big ten season 1-4. Major doubts of Woodsons ability are starting to show. To his and the teams credit they finished 11-4 the rest of the way. Molly whopped in the tournament. Year 3 get some solid to great pieces with Ware and MM but otherwise mostly strike out. And certainly doesn’t make up for what left. Barely beating horrible teams in non-con schedule was eye opening how this season would go. Bad bad bad home losses. Zero recruits to look to the future. The argument could be made that given the talent level in year 2 over year 1 - that expectations weren’t met and the team has consistently gotten worse each year Woodson has been HC compared to it’s relative talent level. It’s Woodson riding on his high horse like he’s delivered exceptional results and no one should question him. Truly, he probably is so thankful for Pete Yonkman, and so am I. Otherwise this 3 year stretch of IU basketball probably would have been one of, if not the worst stretch of 3 years in the history of IU basketball.
  23. You do realize all of those guys won national championships or several deep tourney runs before they started to push back on fans and media? They had the resume to back it up. Preposterous to compare those 3 with anything Woodson has done.
