Coach Tony's dive into the 4-out, 1-in, offense...Excellent!
JJacks replied to DWB's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
From what I understand RMK mastered this offense. One golden rule he had was the "2 second rule". Square up and look for 2 seconds (if no immediate shot or drive is available) prior to a dribble. Posting up is for only 2 seconds. He also was the first to teach any big guy coming off a screen to come off the screen as a curl and put your back to the basket in a sitting down post up like position. Eric Anderson, Al Henderson, Matt Nover were really good at this. -
I've been on the Brooks train the last few days, but you could very well be right about that.

It is. The business world isn't any different. Life lessons.

He isn't the athlete that Sheehey was. Also, Woody didn't recruit him. Kids have the option to transfer when a coach leaves for this very reason. This is his team now. His a%* is on the line and he has the right to build the team he wants. I can tell you first hand what it's like when a new college coach comes in that didn't recruit you. You can either sit at the end of the bench and get the silent treatment or go to where you are wanted. It may make Dad mad, but Woody has plenty of Indiana support and winning will get him all the support he needs.

Great leaders of young people can fix the "head cases". Woodson could be just that.

Hard to see Kopp guarding a legit wing/slasher type player if he is at the 3.

I'll give you 10-15 years but O$U hasn't been better than IU since 1991.

Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
JJacks replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Guessing Matta will do some of that stuff. However, does it take a guy with that much credibility to do the traditional "Operations of Men's Basketball" type duties. Is there going to be an "Operations of Basketball" position under Matta? I still can't put my finger on what Matta will do that is different than the traditional position above. It seems like we were led to believe he'll have more impact than what is being mentioned. Ideas? -

Agree with 1 & 2. In regards to #3 it appears to me that EVERY NBA coach backs off when a player pushes back. The coaches that don't (outside of maybe a few) get seen the door before the star player does. With #4 I think the pro game is ahead of where the college game is. It seems like most colleges are trying to mimic the style of play in the NBA. I see this as a positive. If you're referring to style of play and not other aspects of the college basketball. -
I know him. He does talk a lot.

Jim Reamer......Ha.

He agreed to play for Indiana.

What's the hold up on announcing it?

Hey, Hey, Hey.... Let's not lump millions of people into a category because of one or even a couple bad opinions on a chat board full of die hard fans.

Candidate Thread: Eric Musselman (Arkansas)

He's playing around the basket more. Sometimes they go with him as the only post. Archie had him catching the ball around the 3 point line constantly. They also seem to get up and down the floor more. That is his strength. -
What about Conzo Martin?
-
I've heard nothing but great things about him. He was a really nice HS and small college player too.

I wasn't aware of that. Teams usually do, but I wasn't aware of a rule from the NBA that required that. Public sector jobs sure, but private sector it's really no one business but the parties involved. -

Does Boston have to announce it? Does Stevens have to? Also, why wouldn't Stevens use that? I would. -
Right or wrong there is no way Indiana is going to hire an NAIA coach and rightfully so.

I've watch TT for the last 3 years pretty consistently. He's the real deal! Frankly, I don't think it's even close. Yesterday's second half performance was impressive.

No he didn't burn any bridges. I do have a strong suspicion that he did use IU to get a raise and I don't blame him at all for playing that card. However, if that is true, it's easy to understand hard feelings on the IU side. Add the "I'm not a kid anymore..." comment and one can infer for themselves how they should feel. -

I know you can't smell me but I was browsing over at the Boiler board. They went from "IU sucks" "They'er all delusional" "Keep living in the past" to "How good would CBS be there?" "Will Painter have any success?" "Would he be better than Knight?" and my favorite "CBS isn't that good except the two years he took a team to back to back NC games." -

"Now..... back to the game." -
All is that is needed is is for both parties to agree to write another contract that that makes the current contract void. What do people think lawyers do all day.
