Izzo, Boheim, Roy Williams were all hired by power conference teams without HC experience

Because we know what has worked at IU and what it took to win here. we have seen what going away from the IU way has done the last 20 years and it has not worked.
-
Why is that because you have no idea who will work or who won't. Most thought Archie was a homerun hire and how did that turn out. It is so tiring seeing people take such a negative outlook even before anything has happened. I now see why this fan base is the laughing stock of the college basketball world and everyone laughs at us.

Just listened to the last part of JMV interview with Rabby. First he said Matta and IU talked but nothing beyond that and there were no offer or physical and he said he heard that from a lot of people.. Also he said just because you hear names doesn't mean it is more than just a call to check on things.
-
Also he was on the bench for Crean's best two years at IU

My god guys why do you flip out with every little tidbit on a message board. Also nobody on here or any fan out there has no clue how a coach will do in any situation. Most people said Archie was a home run and couldn't see a way he would failed. We have no idea if Beard, Musselman or Oats would do any better here than anyone else. I wish people would stop saying every name thrown out there would be a disaster. It would be nice seeing people go in with an open mind instead of going into with a negative outlook. Could this be some of the reason we might not get certain coaches.

He has always been at the top of my wish list

Last time my #1 was Greg Marshall but glad that didn't happen

I don't look at thing as just winning championships or bust either. I want to eventually win championships but I first care about getting back to competing for the conference titles first. People need to learn to enjoy the journey instead of needing the results right away.

3 of the last 5 champions are clean in Villanova and UVA so I disagree
-
I am including myself in this statement that our fan base is just nuts. We take every little tidbit that is tweeted and take it as gospel and freak out about it if it doesn't meet our agenda. Dolson said you will not hear from him until the announcement on the new coach is made So why not let him do his job and see what happens instead of freaking out every minute. We have no idea if any of this info going out has any truth to it at all so let it play out.

win the right win fun but winning and then vacating those wins are not. I still can't believe how far this fan base has fallen the last few years. I thought I would never hear IU fans saying they want to win no matter the cost of doing it. It is truly embarrassing to me as a long time fan. I would rather never win another championship than winning one while cheating to get that title. I would assume most saying to whatever it takes are the younger fans who never seen a championship.

I think analytics has totally ruined the offensive game in college basketball. I hate just seeing 3's and layups especially since guys today can't hit their layups. It has taken half the court away and made it so much easier to guard. Nothing was better than watching RMK offense running off screens and getting guys like Cheaney or Henderson easy 15 foot shots.
-
I could never look at going to a championship as a bad thing. How many programs can they say that they have been to one championship game and to me that makes our fan base look entitled to be upset with going to one.
-
I just think your line of thinking is ruing the game I grew up loving. The offense today in basketball is about unwatchable and as boring as watching paint dry. I hate seeing the dribble handoffs or the ball screens because it brings to many defenders to the ball. I want see players moving and the ball moving by the pass and not the dribble. i don't want 3 guys standing around the 3 point line waiting for a guy to beat his defender off the dribble.

Still take going to a championship game than not getting there
-
He thinks anything that happened before he was alive doesn't count. basketball has not changed one bit and the goal is still to get the ball in the basket and keep your opponent from scoring baskets. I hate how the younger generation makes basketball or any other sport to be like rocket science and that you have to have a masters degree to understand it.

Who in his second year went to the championship game
-
Or Roy Williams had when KU hired him or Dean Smith when UNC hired him. Jim Boeheim was only an assistant coach when Syracuse hired him.

The thing that some of you don't understand is if coaches don't come here it isn't always an indictment of IU. I just see some coaches happy with where they are at and don't need to move up the ladder and money to be successful. The question that should be asked is why would the elite coaches come to IU over staying at their current job. Also ask you what does IU have that none of their current programs don't have to make them leave.
-
Why are you so caught up with the age of coaches. Right now we have a 76 year old and a 72 year old in the sweet 16. With how coaches move around today or how programs fire coaches the days of coaches staying 3.0 years is probably over.
-
I thought I read where when Woodson was head coach he had two years where his offense was ranked in the top 3
-
I know we as fans have our list of possible candidates and think if we don't get one of them it means he missed on all of his targets. The thing is that we have no idea who is n Scott's list and it could be very different than yours or mine.
-
I'll take it if it means we go to a final 4 and I also think Beilein would give us at least 6 years.

Forgot about that incident
