General Coach Candidate News
NVFalcons1990 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
For me all you have to do is see what he did at Washington State.......yes Washington Freakin State. That is a testament that shows he can win ANYWHERE. -

Sounds to me like a possible Thad Matta hire....... -
Matthew McConaughey will probably gladly pay that.......guessing he's a donor just like Cuban is for us.

Matta > Beilein

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
NVFalcons1990 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Are you guys still in here? Didn't they tell you Brad Stevens already said no??? Lol -
Candidate Thread: Scott Drew (Baylor)
NVFalcons1990 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm not in that boat....we have to shoot for proven power 5 winners with multiple deep Tourney runs ABOVE ALL ELSE!!! -
Candidate Thread: Scott Drew (Baylor)
NVFalcons1990 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hey I have him in my top 5, but think it's highly unlikely. Hope I'm wrong, I love his style of play even though I don't think his personality will mesh at IU. -
Candidate Thread: Scott Drew (Baylor)

Everyone in here.....Drew has the 4th ranked recruiting class next year, so I really don't see him leaving that and coming to IU. You will have better luck over at the Thad Matta, and John Belein threads to be honest. :) -
Candidate Thread: Scott Drew (Baylor)

Because Scott Drew has the 4th ranked recruiting class next year. He isn't leaving that for IU unfortunately. -

Matta - Lewis -
Then Matta is the guy with National Title game, multiple Elite 8's and Sweet 16's and out recruited everyone in the state of Indiana during his runs
-
Exact reason I can't watch the NBA until round 2 of playoffs!!!
-
Anyone run that Paul Westhead Loyola Marymount offense from 1987 to 1990 when they averaged 122.1 per game? Boy were they fun to watch.
-
I'm with ya brother.......graduated in 1990 but got to see IU at our BEST in the 80's and early 90's. Watched Damom Bailey's last high school game before heading to IU. Can also say I've grown up as a adult with IU at its worst as well, so me and guys like you have the rose colored glasses and the other glasses that give you 20/40 vision :)

With the Stevens debacle, Beard waiting on the Texas opening, Musselman moves around every 1-3 years. Take a look at Musselman years on Wikipedia, guy moves constantly. Beilein being too old, Bennett, Donovan and Jay Wright being unrealistic. Give me Matta's credentials versus anybody's!!! He's my new favorite if Stevens is an absolute no!!
-
My guess, looking for a job that "fits" and is close to home since his daughter goes to Butler and he has family here in Indiana. Which job in last 3-4 years would fit that? Georgia, no? Wichita State, no?
-
He's 'magically' healthy because he got a second back surgery to fix the botched first back surgery.

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
NVFalcons1990 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Still does he leave for Texas in 3-4 years once Shaka is let go? He's a Texas guy, not a Midwest guy. Hell Matta still lives here and his pedigree is impeccable. Never had a losing record!!!! -
They said other coaches were using Matta's health against him during recruiting because he wasn't able to go on some visits
-
I agree with you.....I think hiring Matta makes sense, but was just trying to take the "feel of this room". No one has a better winning percentage than Matta (.740) except for Mark Few (.834), hell even Pitino is only (.702), Musselman (.705), Tony Bennett (.728), Chris Beard (.711), Matt Painter as a companion is (.661)
-
For me, take away Chris Mack and replace with Mike White from Florida
-
I would love to see what Mark Few could do in a real conference. His worst season ever: 23-11........just WOW
-
Steve Lavin, I was shocked over some of his success..... 226-133 (.630), 4 sweet 16's and an Elite 8, also thought he was older, but only 56.
-
To me you go all out on our dream coaches then go down a tier: Tier 1: Brad Stevens, Billy Donovan, Jay Wright, Tony Bennett, Mark Few, Bill Self Tier 2: Chris Beard, Nate Oates, Scott Drew, Eric Musselman, Mike White, Andy Enfield, Mick Cronin, Mike Boynton, Porter Moser, Chris Mack Tier 3: Thad Matta, John Beilein, Rick Pitino, Steve Alford, Steve Lavin, Mark Pope, Dane Fife, Calbert Cheaney, Scott Skikes, Mike Woodson
