Dingle may be out, and we'll see about MM. If we miss on MM, I'm not worried because there is another NJ kid who everyone is sleeping on... A lot of people are concerned about his attitude - his father never had the makings of a varsity athlete until he was a grown man, so if his growth spurt hits this summer, I am confident we will have a borderline 5 star talent on the wing/backcourt next year.

Yeah, I'm not waving the white flag yet. Knowing the time before the media does not mean in any way that they knew the decision. It's not a big leap to say, a real KU insider likely got the tip and shared that in this discord before IU media got an update from the IU coaching staff. Doesn't mean coaching staffs weren't informed at the same time of an announcement time/decision being made.

I feel like the timeline of information traveling is tough to account for and also not worth reading too far into. Maybe I'm wrong about that. But FWIW, apparently someone charges $70 for VIP access to that discord. So I think it's someone fairly connected. That they had the decision time before Osterman wouldn't be totally shocking. Doesn't mean they also know the decision already/that's it's KU. Necessarily. We will find out soon enough.

KU Twitter still feels very confident. Screenshot of a discord chat where at 9:30 they said he'd announce at this time. 2 hours ahead of when Osterman tweeted it. Doesn't mean anything definitively though

Rumor has it MM is going to KU because when Woodson found out Mack prefers to dip his french fries in mayonnaise instead of Ketchup, the offer was pulled...

This is obviously XJ realizing his first tweet was driving the fan base into a rabid depression, and he had to give us another fleeting glimpse of hope before MM commits to KU tomorrow. Not looking good....... IMO /s

Oh wow, didn't realize that was with Mike Vernon... I see among his many scoops, 2 years ago was KU to B10 haha... That makes me feel more at ease about the twitter chatter in KU circles. In all likelihood just HD trying to build his KU following while having fun at IU fan's expense, since we know how much he loves our fan base

This is the final post I will make on the subject because I am not looking for drama and would rather argue with KU fans. It's message board banter and not a big deal. Just an odd thing to do IMO ... Snide (adjective): derogatory or mocking in an indirect way (per Oxford dictionary). Edit: yes, you can call me snide/petty or whatever for this post. Lol

This board's opinion on the utility of info gleaned from social media seems to change like the direction of the wind, lol. Not sure why someone would visit a message board and click on a recruiting thread if they're not interested in the latest news on recruits. If you don't consider social media activity to be news, that's fine... if nothing else, it is contextual information that you can ignore without snide comments. Guess there is no fun in that though

HD also just abruptly dropped off the space because he had to "take a call" The host of the space joked it's probably KU calling to tell him to shut the hell up and stop talking to them

The other day HD posted a gif of something blipping on a radar, getting closer. Today, allegedly HD was in a Twitter space and asked about Mgbako. He "acted kinda weird when asked about it. Said that he and Kansas definitely have their eyes on someone (Mgbako) and they will figure it out soon." Think the (Mgbako) was implied, but not plainly stated.

I disagree - if I'm Banks or Gunn and they bring in some mediocre transfer from a mid-major conference, I think I can go and compete. If they bring in MM, I'm not getting on the court for major minutes until I'm a junior in all likelihood and may want to explore options. We can agree to disagree, doesn't really matter. Hopefully we're in a good place on Friday!

Yes they are aware of MM's recruitment. I think the distinction is in whether the coaching staff specifically goes out of their way to ask a recruit not to announce a decision - that has already been made - until after the transfer deadline, for the explicit purpose of stopping players from leaving. Withholding that info from them until it's too late... the adjectives for that behavior are not flattering. Knowing something is a possibility is different than knowing something is for a fact going to happen (which it would be, withholding, if he informed a staff about a decision and they asked him to not announce until later). It is a big decision to leave a university and transfer, uproot your whole life. You wouldn't want to do that unless the situation materially changed... which bringing in this kind of player would do. Staff should operate with transparency with these young men. And I believe Woodson and team do.

I can't think of a worse way to do business in this era of college basketball than manipulating a kid into a situation they don't want to be in by not clearly communicating that plans are changing and expectations need to be reset. It will kill your team chemistry for the entire year before they grumpily transfer and dissuade their network from joining your program. Recruiting over happens all the time, but players need to know where they stand. That's fair. Misleading them into believing it will be a certain way only until they no longer have other options would be worse than a bad look.

After watching the first 5 minutes of this, I think the positive impact of having Dad on the visit to IU can't be overstated

I think its far more likely Mgbako chose Friday so the family can get through this week - do their due diligence, go about their routines, etc. Then make the announcement on Friday, celebrate over the weekend, and relax knowing the decision has been made

KU vs IU twitter tomorrow from around 7pm tomorrow until something is officially announced on Friday will be ruthless lol. The KU fans are almost as relentless as ours

Hopefully we're in touch regularly throughout each day at this point. I imagine that until a decision gets communicated, the process is fairly relentless, when the competition is this high level

I think people perceive momentum to be going against us because the UL trip was not cancelled, despite rumors yesterday. Maybe they were just rumors, maybe there was some truth behind it (i.e. did he say so on his visit to Bloomington?) Just my own speculation, but given Kansas also felt great coming out of their visits, maybe MM is just excitable on these trips and says what he thinks people want to hear (not so uncommon - Calhoun said KD verballed to him on a visit for example). Could the agent be steering him toward UL? Maybe. Is it most likely MM's decision to make? I have to imagine. Of course, he may just take the guidance of his agent and that would be that (if he actually is steering toward UL, seems possible he is not and it was a misunderstanding). My hope is that with a week between visits, MM is less apt to make an on the spot decision. If he leaves UL without committing, I like our odds as much as anybody. We just have to wait and see. Lol

Good point... Yeah... and, Louisville is an even quicker flight from Indianapolis. It seems to me if I were a recruit this late in the cycle and really wanted to make a decision soon, I'd want to schedule visits quickly. Coming from NJ and looking at his options, It'd make perfect sense (logistically speaking) to go from Kansas to IU to UL, back home to sleep on it and make a choice. Having the week between makes me think, maybe he has his mind made up already... if he actually takes it.

Interesting. Another week in between, when he is only a short drive away now, from Bloomington? I would be surprised if he made that almost same exact trip just a week later, too, in that case, assuming he is coming from NJ...
