So let’s see... 6 teams in the Elite 8 as of now... Michigan State has now been to 14. Gonzaga, Texas Tech, Virginia, Purdue and Auburn have been to a combined 20. Also for those teams, MSU has been to the Final Four 9 times. The other 5 have been a combined 5 times. Texas Tech and Auburn have NEVER been. MSU was last in the FF in 2015. Zags in 2017. Virginia 1984. Purdue 1980. As for the 4 teams still playing. Kentucky has been to 37 Elite 8’s and 17 FF’s. Last one in 2015. Duke has been to 21 Elite 8’s and 16 FF’s last one in 2015. March is about matchups. Though it’ll be interesting. Bennett will return to his 2nd Elite 8 and is going to his first. Painter to his first. Both have had teams capable of making the Final Four. Bennett and co obviously have screwed it up multiple times very recently. So it’ll be interesting from that standpoint as both will go on for a first time. Out of all the Sweet 16 teams: Altman, Barnes, Williams, Sampson, Calipari, Beilein, Few, Izzo and K have all been to Final Fours. Yea that sounds about right. I don’t see much difference between this year and next. NW, Rutgers will still suck. Minnesota might take a step back. MSU, UM and Ohio State will be good. Al has shown that he is who is is. A solid guy who can knock down some shots. Sometimes aggressive and sometimes not. Not a guy you ever want to be in your top 3 options offensively. Devonte is who he is as well. Erratic. Gotta take the good with the bad. Smith’s problem is hustle. Just like Jeremy Hollowell. Very talented but just won’t put forth the effort. Anderson is a shooter. We saw that. Defense? Doesn’t look like he’ll have be able to do. There wasn’t a single flash of good defense from him. Moore and Jake have the hustle and athleticism but not the IQ. Moore would be the best of the two with his length. But both need to spend a majority of their time watching tape.
