I didn't realize McDermott was coaching Iowa, but what I think he is good at is evaluating high IQ players that make great reads. Their defense and switching against Florida was really good.

Good post. And I think this is just exactly where we are at. We can speculate until the cows come home but I'm pretty sure Dolson was thinking that CDD had many of these same traits when he hired him. Different personality, but time will tell. We are always going to get an up and commer like Travis Steele or say Alan Huss etc..., but do they have many of these intangibles or at least enough to build on? 2nd season is prob a good gauge for the projection of the program. How also is he meshing with high school coaches and recruiting the state? Crean ended up not doing so well there towards the end. There is a lot to learn at a job at IU and I think CDD has learned a few major lessons in his first year. Hiring Carr is a good sign to me that he is taking this next season recruiting serious. We'll see shortly how this plays out.

I agree, and I'm not sure a lot can be gleaned by a coaches outward personality. Mark Few or Brad Stevens comes to mind as similar demeanor to CDD and they have had huge success. I also think we will get a good picture of where this program is headed by what happens to the roster in the next month.

You are right about not bringing in any more bench warmers....we need playable depth and I hope she is able to land those players/starters with production/experience.

Yeah, I think less and less teams are going to play those NIT games with the way the roster turnover portal stuff. I can see it going away in the future.

I have never seen a kid bust his azz so hard and nothing much to show for it game after game than CE. I mostly feel bad for this group because, money aside, I am sure they didn't want their legacy to end this way. I never really questioned their effort, they seemed to play really hard. Too many limitations along with no depth and the curse of Sisyphus.

Like I’ve said before, one of her best teams in recent times gets knocked out of a first round home game by Miami/16 seed. The stands were packed and I think the fan base lost hope after that game. Been going downhill ever since.

I agree, and hopefully with the added assessment from Carr, they can figure out who to keep and who to let go. All we have on those two are old highlight reels. Don't know if they have been practicing or what. I'm guessing both will def get a redshirt.
