Indiana vs Butler Game Thread 12/15
HoosierFan1994 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I was present at the 2016 Big Ten Tournament game against Michigan. Blew a five point lead in one minute and lost at the buzzer. That was it for Crean with me. I couldn't even stay for the second game I was so mad. -
Plus they have Duke over Gonzaga...
-
I like them being the underdog to be honest. I laugh that O$U and Iowa are as high as they are.
-
Same here but how stupid of them.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky

I'll say it again...this kid is underrated. Kind of like Rob. Rob should have been a 80-100 type of recruit. I think Keion is top 15. Nothing against Trayce but I think Keion is better and could be a one and done. I think he commits before Christmas. The trio of Rob, Keion, and TJD puts us in a very good position. The one key is developing players. The was a problem in the past regime.Al and Justin have to continue getting better. I hope Jerome can come back healthy. Don't expect Romeo...Damezi and Jake are going to have to have a good role off the bench for this team. They aren't playing a lot and in the past players like that would give up and transfer (Remy, AE, Stan) and contribute at other places. -
Carsen is legit. Don't see the hate on him. He has to shoot that much because they have nothing around him...hence more turnovers. Eastern is a bust so far. I think Haarms is nothing more than a role player. Future not looking good in West Lafayette. Painter couldn't get past the Sweet 16 with that "great" senior class and Swanigan the last few years. If they miss the NCAA's this year he could be on the hot seat going into next season. Archie stealing the in-state kids is hurting him. Hunter, Gillis, and Thompson are probably role players at IU (like Damezi or Jake). PU is expecting them to get major minutes from day 1. I think stealing Rob from them was huge and isn't talked about enough. He is left with the scraps except for Newman. I think he could be really good.

I was going to type the same thing until I saw your post. My goodness...I know we all hate on Carsen but he is the most valuable player in the Big Ten. They may be worse than Illinois without him. They better hope Haarms, Hunter, Gillis, Newman, and Thompson are the real thing...

I sure hope it's not. He has been very good off the bench. If he is graduating early that is awesome. Didn't he struggle with academics in high school? I think he was delayed coming to campus because of grades.

Is Jordan Tucker returning? Top 50 recruit in 2017. I'm with you though I'm pretty confident in this game. We match up well with them.

Seriously...I can't believe the negativity on this board over a win over a decent ACC team. It's embarrassing and pathetic.... I get it, this team has to get better. We aren't there yet offensively. Archie even told us this would happen at the start of the season. Free-throws, 3pt shooting, and taking care of the ball are musts. But come on people this is the toughest non-conference schedule IU has had in years. Add that to two B1G games. I would have loved to beat Arkansas but we have two wins over two NCAAT teams and two B1G wins.
-
A little late to the party my some of my thoughts.. 1) So glad we have a competitive non-conference schedule. I think Marquette (great win over Whisky), Louisville, and maybe Butler/Arkansas are NCAA Tournament teams. Could have played 5 NCAAT teams not including the other opponents if they win their auto bid. Louisville was a tough matchup. They have some size. Nwora will be a force in the ACC. 2) These are the kind of games we lost under Crean. It shows we are headed in the right direction. It was so nice to see a team finish down the stretch. 3) Justin Smith! A point and rebound away from a double-double. No turnovers either! Hope this is a turning point for him! 4) Great win. Hope this team can handle Butler in Indy and I will be very very happy. I don't think McRoberts is 100 yet so getting him back to strength will be huge. I hope Fitzner can get going.

I've always thought this. Why does O$U play in it? I think they should do a triple header with us, UNC, Duke, UK, UCLA, and Kansas. Rotate every 5 years.

I can understand that argument. Who do you think is?

I'm going to have to watch him a few times this year. Could be the first Mr. Basketball from Evansville. Surprised Walter McCarty never won the award. -
Here is how I see things so far after one month and two B1G games: Michigan-Zavier Simpson is their engine. Their freshman is pretty good as well. Michigan State-Sold trio of juniors with depth. I think they could be dangerous in March. Wisconsin-Healthy with a solid road win at Iowa. Trice and Davison have been huge. Indiana-Really need to take care of the basketball. Need another person to step up on offense. Maryland- Might be the most talented team in the B1G but not big on Turdgeon. Iowa- Franimals best team he has had. Like Maryland, not big on coaching. Played two tough B1G teams already. Purdue-Carsen Edwards is carrying this team. Would be a bottom 3 team without him. Future looks not so good in West Lafayette. Ohio State-Not drinking the Ohio State Kool-Aid yet. They lost too much from last year. Minnesota- Was big on Minny unitl O$U blew them out at home. Nebraska- Like Maryland and Iowa, talented but terrible coaching. Northwestern- Could surprise people. Played Michigan and IU tough. If Ryan Taylor gets going watch out. Penn State- Much better defensive team. Could upset some teams in January and February. Rutgers- Solid road win at Miami. Played Sparty and Whisky tough. Illinois- A JOKE MVP Carsen Edwards COY Beilein FOY Romeo Langford 1st Team Winston Carsen Romeo' Bruno Happ

Agree. I am sure Archie will be looking in April. Even if they come off the bench. Someone to give Rob and Al some rest. -

Maybe Deja vu on Friday? Would have to think it will happen in the next three weeks. That Indy Star article had IU all over it. -
ALLEN thinking of turning over defensive coordinator duties to someone else.

I think I meant it more toward Ramsey... Don't know as much about Penix. Probably deserves the starting nod next season. They need a change. -

I'm talking high school players. Not what they did on college or pros. No way Lindauer is a pro. Just think he will be a solid D1 QB somewhere. He had as good of a high school career as anyone could have. That's what I meant. -

Here is where recent mocks have him: Big Lead #4 SI #5 Action Network #6 NBA Draft Net #11 Draft Site #13 If he improves his three point shooting (which I think he will) no way he falls out of the top ten. Only way I can see him coming back is if he is told he's a borderline lottery pick. Unrelated note- Why is Nassir Little still so high? He has done nothing compared to Romeo. And Frankie boy wants to b**ch about how Archie uses Romeo? Give me a break. -

They won't be next year. Maybe as Sophomores or Juniors. That is why Rob, Al, Justin, Jake, Damezi, and Jerome are so important. They have to get better so we don't rely on two freshmen next year. -

Exactly. Currenlty committed to SIU for football and baseball. He is opening his recruitment back up. Probably the best football player to come out of Evansville since Levron Williams. Again, don't know how good he would be in the B1G but I think he deserves a shot. Was a 4 year starter in high school. He can be a solid D1 QB somewhere. -
Good teams win close games like this. We lost a lot of those last year.
