The reality is there are two types of schools right now: the ones trying to spend money before April 7 and the ones waiting until after April 7 to spend money. He had as much success at Minnesota as anyone has. The program has only been to 14 NCAA tournaments ever and the only momentum they had toward any somewhat real or sustained success was killed by the Clemson Haskins era scandal. Will be interesting to see how Pitino does in a better setting.

Right. But we're giving him credit for these great assist numbers without knocking him for his turnover issues. His best role, then, is much more limited in terms of the amount of offense running through him... which means he won't be creating as many assists. Yes, he's a bench guy with experience. And that's fine.

Agreed, other than the 3 pt %. Given his career FT % and his first year at Drake and last year, I wouldn't expect him to replicate that (even that year, he only shot 37% in conference play - just had a really hot November/December). But yes, if we expect something like: 25 minutes, 6 points, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, 35% from 3, and an understanding of the system and where to be on offence and defense, that's probably about what he will provide.

He turned it over on 30% of the possessions he used last year. That's really bad. He's fine as an addition to the team, but I think the board in general is overrating his value.

Swain is a guy on NBA radars because he has a lot of upside for the reasons you mention. But needs lot more consistency with the ball and to fix his shot.

I think he's still a good coach but had not figured out NIL at Xavier (and NIL is probably very bad for programs like Xavier). But for sure would not consider him a home run hire or sure thing. He's only had one year in his last 6 that anyone would consider successful.

Luke Murray is the most likely candidate for Xavier.

Yes. He's a really good passer. But so limited in the rest of his offensive game that it's tough to count on him for a lot. Just to add a little color: excellent assist rate, equally terrible turnover rate - both (in my opinion) because he was forced to be more of a playmaker than he's really capable of being (I know he didn't struggle with that as much at Drake but still turned it over far too often there). Poor shooter unless you believe his 2024 is reliable - and his FT% indicates that was an aberration. Doesn't really score much without outside shooting. Best case is that he stops turning it over on a better team/in a better system, continues to pass well, and reliably hits 3s - and that's absolutely a guy we could use. I'm just not optimistic he gets there.

I'm not convinced Enright is anything more than a back of the bench guy who shouldn't be in the rotation. But would be happy to be wrong if he comes.
