We've got to keep the theater going...

Jumping in the fan club right with you!

Schertz not being on this list tells me there is major underestimation of how hard it is to win at Indiana State. SLU's been a lot better this year too.
-

*Fanfiction* Hoosiers make a run to the Final Four, hire Brad Stevens after they punch their ticket. Stevens serves as Woodson's first assistant, helping lead Indiana to their first Title since 1987!
-
The amazing thing is that - with hindsight - hiring Alford instead of Sampson would have clearly been the better move. Alford likely would have done at least what he managed at UCLA, and would have been excellent at recruiting the state. Would have also started to wear out his welcome right when Stevens began his assent. A nice piece of alternate history!

Has me torn in my rooting interest over the next week. On the one hand, I think, "If this team just plays how it should have played all year, they could make the Sweet Sixteen." On the other, I think, "The sooner this season ends, the sooner things just resolve." Patience is a virtue; happy to wear the uncertainty for the sake of this team giving us something to cheer for.

Another set of coaching candidates floated. Pertaining to this section, there is reference made to - hindsight being what it is - the time to hire Alford would have been in the aftermath of the Mike Davis situation. Would have given him a chance, and also averted the self-inflicted Sampson disaster.

Wow; that was a pretty exciting 35 minutes or so; back to the wait!
-
Or when you're threatening the fan base to stay in line. 'If you're not careful, this is what you're going to get!'

Favorite video from the Twitter/X-verse; they still love him in Boston! https://x.com/i/status/1896365076363563177

I actually don't get the take that Stevens is not a safe choice to win at IU with whatever staff he wants. Woodson was an NBA guy, but was never known as an Xs and Os savant; Stevens was literally considered one of the best tactical coaches in the NBA. The choice for best tactical coach in college basketball would immediately be between him and Pitino. Would be happy to eat crow, but I would go so far as to say Stevens is not a gamble at all.

Drew not looking great right now in a must-win game for their tourney hopes... If they don't get this one, it's not going to be an easy road.
-
Yeah, there were plenty of things that just didn't need to have happened. It was there to be more successful, and it just hasn't worked. All of those things you describe have been problems. The Tucker thing is interesting; think some of it is stuff going south, but a lot of it is Leal getting his minutes. I think a lot of the defensive jump can be found there.
-
Think he could; since they've gone to this new lineup approach, they're at around 1.18 ppp on offense and 95.5 on defense. Those efficiency metrics are a lot like teams like Michigan, Louisville and UCLA. Hope they keep it up!

The amazing thing is that there was nothing stopping them from playing this way all year. Did we catch that when Woodson went to the group that began the year as starters that UW immediately went on a 6-0 run? He's a good coach, and decent tactically; think his lineup choices are the main thing that did him in.
-
Also think that, in this scenario, he leaves with IU at the top of the college game and as the most attractive job in the country.
-
Alright, fellas; about 32 pages so far today. Pretty good work. Gotta keep it cracking if we're to make it to 2,000 that we need for Brad Stevens to become our coach!
-
But... what about FoxSports?
-
Forgot about Lloyd and Wade... They would also be great. I do think we're going to get a coach who will win here this cycle.
-
Well that's an interesting idea... Looks great!
-
Otz, Few, Drew would be three of my guesses. Jay Wright & Tony Bennett I would hope for, but doubt that has been discussed. Would be good with McConnell & Schertz being considered.
-
That's a good point; Wake is really in a tough spot in the ACC. They've been in a dry spell since Skip & Dino, for sure.
-
Steve Forbes! Haven't seen that name yet; add him to the board! Personally, would not. Hasn't yet made a tournament at Wake, though they've been better with him than the last two coaches.
