  1. After 9 years of bad to mediocre basketball, I don’t think I can take another bad hire. I just can’t fathom how in any world Brownell would be the pick.
  2. I am pretty sure he has stated he has heard rumors of Stevens from the Donor base but cant substantiate them.
  3. The crown auto bid for the Big Ten goes to the two highest net teams that don’t make the tourney. Right now that is Ohio State (41) and Northwestern (53). Collin’s has already said Northwestern intends to turn down the NIT and Crown due to injuries. I would think IU would have cause to turn down a bid due to a coaching change.
  4. I don’t see how they can wait until April to announce the hire. The new coach can only do so much in incognito mode before perspective players will want to know who the coach is going to be.
  5. He would be a homerun hire that no one has really talked about. I would love that.
  6. This has been the best ran coaching search I have seen. People that are paid to know like Rabby, Trilly, and Goodman seem to not have a clue who IU is focused on. They only know candidates they are not talking to like Wade. We know more about the Iowa and NC State searches and the IU job has been open way longer.
  7. This was likely the angle the whole time. The IU interest in Brownell was just his agent getting him a raise. McCollum was his agent trying to get him the Iowa job.
  8. Chris Reynolds posts on HSN?
  9. BtownBanners trying to will Brad Stevens to IU into existence.
  10. I would give him a chance. I said from the get go that I trust Dolson to make a good hire. I think it’s important for the fans to get behind the coach and players for success. Criticism will come when it’s earned. I don’t like the talk of let’s just get the fire (insert coach) thread started and I will see you back here in four years.
  11. https://x.com/bball_war3/status/1900351987595853999?s=46 100% agree with this post and what I want out of the hire whomever it is.
  12. Would Goodman be the one to leak the hire in preparation for announcement?
  13. That sure seems like the tweet that proceeds a Ben M is finalizing a deal to become the next IU basketball coach.
  14. That’s awesome. With that much noise, there would be no way to separate fact from fiction. We are truly going to be surprised with this announcement.
  15. https://247sports.com/college/maryland/article/report-details-when-mark-turgeon-decided-to-resign-from-maryland-basketball-job-177190909/amp/ Everyone should read this article and any Turgeon talk can be put to rest. The guy was in a pressure cooker at Maryland and decided he was out. What does he expect at IU? His last season at Maryland looks a lot like how the IU season started this year .
  16. I don’t know why Indiana fans keep getting dumped on for being unreasonable and getting good coaches fired. If Texas gets rid of Terry this year, they will be on their 5th coach in ten years and they are a football school.
  17. I am just guessing, but I would think the small donors are going to provide no matter what. The larger ones I would expect tie their donation amount to a particulate recruit, transfer, or current enthusiasm level around the program. I thought it was reported that the NIL this past year was specifically tied to Woodson as coach.
  18. I wander what a McCollum hire does for NIL. I would assume Dolson is telling every candidate what they would have available next year.
  19. Crazy Idea. IU hires Ben McCollum, who in turn hires recently fired big ten head coach Fran McCaffery as an assistant to help navigate the big ten. Fran gets to be closer to his kids and work a few years until he wants to retire. I wouldn’t hate it.
  20. Jeff Goodman tweet stating “IU coaching search narrowing in on Brad Brownell” in 3, 2, 1…..
  21. Brad Brownell is our Lon Kruger this coaching cycle. I just don’t see there being any chance of him being hired.
  22. I think Archie had some question marks that were brought up early. Team three point and free throw percentage was abysmal. Carried right over to IU.
  23. I agree with you that guys like Brownell, Devries, and maybe Byington are poachable and are current p5 coaches. You had mentioned Calipari and Pitino moving to Kentucky as an example of poaching a coach. What remains to be seen, is if a top 20 coach would move to a blue blood when they already have an established program in 2025. McCasland is no guarantee to leave Texas Tech for Austin. He makes $4m a year, their largest NIL donor just sold his company for 4 billion dollars, and his team is currently top 10. Unless they just don’t support him, I could see him being content where he is at.
