  1. Dane Fife needs to go get a head coaching job. He needs to show he can successfully run a program. It would be significant risk for a power 5 school to hire him outright. A risk that IU can't afford to take at the moment. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. I agree. I am glad we have lots of sources of information flowing in. I have hard time believing that Donovan would have a staff yet even he had agreed to come. There would be lots of logistics involved in putting together a staff and many potential leak sources. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  3. I agree with this. From whats been posted earlier, Parker is used to close and not find perspective candidates. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. I just hope some of the basketball alums don't push Glass to do just that. Does anyone know if the older basketball alums are pushing for Alford? I don't understand the whole "IU guy" thing. I just want to win at a high level and it isn't going to happen with Steve Alford. I am tired of a one sided team. All offense and no defense. Reminds me too much of the colts the last decade. 5. What about Cal? They have a strong area to recruit and are in a top heavy conference. I thought he maybe could find some success there also. Also has anyone found any post firing quotes from Tom? He seems to have gone dark. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. If they hire the wrong assistant after K goes, then they can quickly become irrelevant. No one is immune to a bad coaching hire. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. What was Louisville at the end of Denny Crum's tenure? Far from elite. Everyone is one bad coaching hire from mediocrity. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. I am thinking the talk concerning Fife is to bring him in as an assistant. Fred said it himself that there was going to be a good budget for assistants as well. It is time to do the plucking for assistant coaches rather than being plucked. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. I post this to give those that want him gone some hope. Nothing has been announced officially one way or the other. If you recall on March 6th it was announced via the media that Washington was going to retain Romar as coach, and we all know what happened yesterday. The media doesn't always have completely accurate information and things can change quickly. http://washington.247sports.com/Bolt/Report-Lorenzo-Romar-returning-next-season-to-Washington--51642447 http://www.si.com/college-basketball/2017/03/15/lorenzo-romar-washington-huskies-coach-fired
  10. I am pretty burned out with all this myself. If he is retained I am going to have to take a long vacation from IU basketball talk Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  12. I want to believe it's Billy D, but have a hard time believing we have any perspective coach in the bag with how hard Glass has been fighting to retain Crean. If I was the AD and sniffed Billy D wanted the IU job, I am moving on from Crean even if the timing was last year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. I agree completely. This needs to come out tomorrow or risk our preferred candidate being off the table. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. Crean would be an upgrade over Martin. They should be thrilled to get him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  15. You know your still a blue blood when you have a 1000 page thread concerning the firing of your teams coach. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. I would be ok with it as well if I knew for sure he could recruit like Sean. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. I saw a suggestion on another forum that Crean may not have been willing to play the Porter game as a reason for talks with Missouri breaking down. That was an interesting take as It was a little suspicious how quick that fell into place once Martin was hired. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. I posted this in the Fred Glass thread also, but IU just got taken to task on around the horn for the whole NIT debacle. Crean mentioned as having a hot seat but they thought he would be back. Not that they know anything. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  19. I was watching Around the Horn and lo and behold Indiana was on the agenda. The topic of discussion centered on Indiana not wanting to devalue Assembly Hall by playing an NIT home game. Fred really has given the school a black eye. It doesn't matter if that wasn't the real reason. It's about public perception. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  20. Glass's seat being hot does not surprise me after the situation with Wilson and now the Georgia Tech debacle. If and when Crean is let go, can he even be trusted to make the appropriate hire?
  21. I expected a press conference today to announce either he is staying or going. I would imagine if it doesn't happen today, we may be waiting awhile. It doesn't make sense to have that sort of announcement while the tournament is going on, but hey we did turn down a home game so who knows.
  22. IU has a large talent gap over GT. Turnovers are killing any momentum that we could accrue. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  23. I hope he sticks around and doesn't leave Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  24. It's hard to tell whether they give a crap tonight or just going through the motions. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  25. I didn't know any college teams were sponsored by Russell. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
