  1. Best of luck to Coach Sheridan! He was a big part of the development of Peyton Hendershot. Let's hope he'll be able to produce and keep the Hoosiers rolling. They've got a tough schedule this coming season so it'll be a big challenge for sure.
  2. They lost to SBU at home and two on the road to MSU and PITT. I'll wait and see once how they fair in the grind of the schedule. I wholeheartedly agree. Doing the extra things is on the player. But I believe you're just talking about the extra things the make a VO. Those aren't a common thing. They're a diamond in the rough. You're not going to get an entire team of VO's even if a player does the extra things. Some players need a coach to motivate them. I know not doing the extra things you speak of and just doing the required things the system/program is having a player do should result into some sort of development. It's not like these players don't practice, go to weight room, watch film, have nutritionist, get personal tutors, etc. etc..
  3. I totally understand your point but I don't think that's an excuse for the lack of development. In my opinion, which means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things, that falls directly on who's developing them. My main comment was at what point do we start to question CAM's development skills? After all the Crean recruits leave the building? Because that's a key component for his success here and as of right now he's not doing a very good job at it. Shoot man, Race has been in the system equally to Durham and Smith. I would have thought Race would be playing more minutes because he's one of Archie's recruits. But he isn't. Look the season is early. They've got 11 wins and 3 losses. They've had a some good wins and 3 bad losses. Shots weren't falling in those losses and 2 of the 3 losses were conference losses on the road. He gets a pass from me but it's a complicated case when it comes to the development of his players.
  4. For the record, I don't want to see him fired but at some point you got to start questioning CAM's ability to develop players. He's had Davis, Green, Durham and Smith for three years and the only one I'm truly seeing develop, if you want to call it that, is Durham. Davis has gotten worse. Both Green and Smith have spots of greatness and are up and down on a minute by minute basis, but they had that prior to CAM. I would have thought all four of those guys would have been solid contributors by now. Because development is key for these four players and that simply isn't the case. I could be wrong though. I'm just some dude on the internet b*tchin' about things I probably shouldn't be b*tichin' about.
  5. Here's and update on my first thought candidates. I'd also like to point out that Rob Sale doesn't actually call the plays so I'm not sure he's the right guy. We'll see folks. What are your thoughts about bringing back Kevin Johns?
  6. First and foremost congratulations to Kalen DeBoar! I truly hope he has success at Fresno St. and wish him the best. A staple at this level and above is the forever rotation of coaching positions. This year's rotation was due to success! I'll take it baby. Now CTA is tasked with making a home run hire like he did last year with DeBoar. I'm curious to know what y'all think of potential candidates for the job. Here are a few that come to mind Rob Sale - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns OC Joey Lynch - Ball St. OC Rhett Lashlee - SMU OC Matt Kubik - ULM OC All of these coaches made big jumps in rankings from 2018 to 2019. That might not necessarily mean anything but they are jumps nonetheless.
  7. I'm cool with this extension. It appears both parties are happy and the way the contract is written it looks like CTA isn't looking at IU as a stepping stone. I truly believe IU has a coach that's committed for the long haul. If DeBoer is offered another gig he's earned it. Good for him and I thank him very much for putting in his blood sweat and tears for the Cream and Crimson. It'll just mean CTA will have to find another coach to replace him. That's how it works in this business. Good coaches are able to do this without issue. And hopefully coaches, like DeBoer, elsewhere are taking notice of the culture going on in Bloomington, Indiana.
  8. A part of me also wants them playing in Florida for recruitment reasons. A lot of the players would really enjoy going back home playing in a bowl.
  9. This site has the Hoosier playing in the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit against Boston College. https://collegefootballnews.com/2019/11/bowl-projections-college-football-playoff-predictions-after-week-14 Personally, I'd like to see a IU v UK bowl game. What say you?
  10. DeBoer is turning out to be a great hire that's for sure. DeBoer is getting paid. Something like 800k a year that could end up being $1 million per year with bonuses. I believe it's the highest paid OC in the history of the program. So hats off to Glass as well because he ponied up some cash. And I'd be fine if DeBoer goes on to pursue bigger and better things. He's earned it. It'll just mean that CTA will have to make another hire at OC. That's part of being successful at this kind of job. And with the precedent set I don't think money will be an issue.
  11. Maybe I'm naive but even if this year isn't a fluke and our beloved Hoosiers perform this type of season on a constant basis I still think he stays put. He seems to be all about Hoosier football and here to prove something.
  12. In my opinion CTA isn't going anywhere. It appears that he's all in with Hoosier football. I think the only job I could see him taking would be something like Notre Dame, and that ain't gonna happen. I honestly think he's home. Man, I sure hope I don't eat crow on this.
  13. From what I understand this is just a delay tactic of the inevitable. Because there's already several state and one federal legislation (google Mark Walker NCAA) bills in the works. What it will likely do for me is be able to purchase EA NCAA Football again! WOOOOOOOOO!
  14. I love the future talk about our beloved Hoosiers! All of it is positive and a delight to be reading this morning. But Northwestern right now fellas. They'll need the support of their fans cheering them onward to victory at Memorial stadium this Saturday. We show up in the stadium and let them know just how much we appreciate what they've been doing then others (cough cough recruits) will take notice. Let's build something together.
  15. This crow doesn't taste too bad considering why I'm eating it. Job well done for our beloved Hoosiers! Now it's on to hosting Northwestern to compete for win number 7.
  16. Not that it matters but Nebraska is 4-3.
  17. I was thinking the same. Maybe. Hopefully our beloved Hoosiers can make some noise. As for the redshirt situation, I could be wrong here but I thought Penix got injured last year before hitting that 4 game threshold thus making it an easy decision to redshirt him? And prior to season start I recall him always harping on competing for a spot and how that was a good thing within the program. So I'm not so sure he's redshirting folks just to work them in slowly.
  18. Looks like the Cornhuskers are now favored.
  19. Yep. When I posted that Nebraska was at like 50.something and the Hoosiers were 49.something. Now that our Hoosiers beat the Terps things have changed. And I like it! Gonna be a tough road game. Hope they can pull it off.
  20. Okay folks, the week has come to see if our beloved and favored (unreal) Hoosiers can walk into Lincoln and stay the course. Truly hope Penix is able to play. He adds another dimension to the offense.
  21. You're correct. As far as rankings and poop like that. I said that because I think ESPN has the Cornhuskers as favorites at the moment. Albeit marginal and slightly favored. But the Hoosiers have to beat Maryland first.
  22. I hear ya. I hope the Hoosiers don't get overwhelmed of the atmosphere. If they don't and play solid football from top to bottom they have a really good shot at pulling the upset. But a lot has to go right for them. Regardless, that's next week. This week is Maryland.
  23. Yeah I've spent a lot of time in Lincoln for work. Make not mistake, they love their football like Btown loves their basketball. Maybe even more. While working in Lincoln, multiple times I've been asked to stick around a Saturday during football season. The game day bus system they've got setup to bring in the folks parked away from Memorial Stadium (parking is a bear) is down to a science. The fan base is the real deal. It's quite impressive. Nebraska folk don't mess around with their football and that's part of the reason I don't really have IU winning this game. But like I said earlier, I'll gladly eat crow.
  24. I saw a little bit of the Colorado game. And a little bit of the Northwestern game. Nebraska is on a bye week and has two weeks of prep to host IU in a packed house. That's a very big deal. The only like opponent the two teams have is OSU to where the scores were just about the same. Today, Nebraska's SOS is tougher than IU's, which might not mean anything in the grand scheme of things. In my opinion, this is going to be a very tough road game for the Hoosiers. They'll have a chance but I don't have them winning this game. I hope I'm wrong and I'll gladly eat crow for saying it.
