(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Okay and? That's how recruiting works man. I didn't hide that I was wrong about Garland but everyone was. They may have called Vandy the favorite, but no one had UCLA ahead of us lol. I find it funny that people in recruiting world's get called out for being wrong, but we're dealing with teenagers who change their mind daily. I have been wrong just like Jerry Meyer and Evan Daniels & Jeff Borzello have been wrong. I was wrong about one kid damn man. Did I say Romeo was coming here? No I didn't at all. The positives for us are out there trust me just like with Kansas and Vandy being they made the top 3. Read my post, ignore it whatever but don't keep harping on the same thing over and over. I admitted myself I was wrong lol. I don't hide who I am behind a username. -

I think Garland is nervous for many reasons. Romeo is only one of them so though I know that to be true I don't know exactly how much stock to put in it. I do find it funny that people use the excuse of not wanting to hurt people or if it was IU why is waiting as negatives against us. The same can be said about waiting with Vandy. They've been the "leaders" for 2 months now why wait? It's very amusing. The Langfords have shot plenty of us down immediately with the combo with Garland. He wants to play with him of course but even I may have put too much stock in that. He is waiting for 2 very big reasons. He is chasing a all time scoring record and focused on winning a state title. Why is that so hard for people to understand? -

Trying to read this board and stay out of things has been hard lol, but with recruiting season taking a break for football I have more free time and I'm getting bored already. Some things I've heard that could help with some interesting topics some have brought up. 1. Juwan Morgan isnt going anywhere. He has complete trust in Archie that he can make him a guaranteed NBA draft pick with another year. Unless we win the B1G tourney and a game or two in the NCAA tourney he will be back. 2. The staff sees DeVonte & Phinisee having a great battle for the pg job but know Green could start beside him as well. 3. Vandy isn't getting Montgomery. He is 90% Duke's and they are actively recruiting plenty others and some wing/guard types if that tells you that they're not sold that they have Romeo like some say they're telling people. 4. I could say Vandy or IU based or credible sources so when things get said, don't take too much consideration with it. 5. I believe Romeo announces at the end of the season. I always thought it'd be by December because I knew he'd be locked in on scoring title and a run at state. Like I said then too if it wasn't by then it wouldn't be anytime until afterwards. I know that to be 99.9% true and it's to focus on his senior year not nothing else. Feelings or fans won't be apart of it. 6. I do know for a fact Garland is very nervous about his decision. He is getting desperate, but maybe just because he doesn't like the waiting game but read what you want. 7. Archie isn't visiting because he would rather wait till sectionals and beyond when he can be there for the big games. Archie had passed that on to Romeo and was a main reason Romeo came to IU on a visit on his own dime for a face to face sooner. I know that to be true as well. 8. Garland played everyone but Vandy so using his recruitment for Romeo's isn't a good idea and anything regarding Romeo when mentioned with Garland needs to be taken with a grain of salt. The want is there for them to play together though. I don't know which way he's leaning or have a clue to where he will end up but I promise there have been plenty of reasons for IU fans to be optimistic. Just as Vandy should be. I just wanted to share things I knew or have heard to be true at the moment. If he does go to Vandy I really hope he doesn't break the scoring record for selfish reasons of keeping the title in state(going to an Indiana school). -

Freddie - Damezi CuJo- RP Priller- Jake Hartman- Jerome Newkirk- RoJo- There are 2 spots available at the moment and hopefully McRoberts gets one spot, but it'll be his senior year so idk if he would want it or for Archie to get someone else to help them be competitive. I also expect a transfer which hopefully isn't Clifton Moore. I say we add Romeo & McRoberts keeps playing without a scholly sadly and we take the best possible grad transfer regardless of position in the off-season. We need talented and experienced players at every position. Now let's go get Romeo and worry about the other spot later. -

We need wings & shooters more than a big. I don't get the pessimistic talk about how good we'd be with Romeo. Him & Juwan would be two of the top 5 players in the B1G. If Rob is half decent & consistent at that I'm fairly confident. The B1G will be wide open next season. We've seen what Archie can do with the guys now on defense & turnovers mostly. Give him Romeo & Juwan and more of his guys then I wouldn't put it out of the question that we could reach a final four. -

Yeah the ND thing isnt something to book a theory on, but it is nice. After talking to him I believe he has some Intel as he is more connected to this than some think, but it didn't come from the months of the Langfords so therefore it's not a done deal people. It's definitely a positive though. -

ND Kendrick is legit. I know him. He is very close to a lot of people in the state, but doesn't mean he knows what's up with Romeo. I just reached out to him to see what he's hearing & why he'd tweet that. He likes IU but is far from a homer. -

I believe he announces during the McDonalds game or shortly after. I always thought it wouldn't last past January, but it's likely gonna happen. I have heard from credible people that they think IU and also some for Vandy. I just now stopped hearing Kansas was in strong position so I truly doubt anyone has a real idea just guesses. Be careful who you listen to though. If they're a IU fan or Vandy fan I don't pay much attention or even each schools beat writers. Sadly ESPN and some other big boys will likely know before anyone. -

Look the NBA and College ball are totally different. With that said, as much as everyone says our roster is not good which is true, we have good pieces to sell Romeo. Kansas has more so I won't compare but, Would you rather have Shittu coming off a ACL injury as a freshmen or a Senior Juwan Morgan who has shown he can easily be All B1G next season as well as maybe this year? My pick is Morgan without Crimson glasses on. Would you rather have Garland or Phinisee running the offense you're in? Answer is Garland, but Phinisee isn't that bad of a choice either as well as Shittu. Now to the role players which Vandy won't have much of that are known compared to De'Ron Davis, DeVonte Green, Justin Smith, Josh McRoberts YES Josh McRoberts who all have shown enough to be excited about with another off-season ahead. Then you add Jerome Hunter who has NBA potential as well as Clifton Moore who yes is very raw but a prospect. Throw in the rest of the guys and our bench/role players are clearly better than Vandys. Coaching staff I would have to give us the edge on as well. If Romeo & Garland we're not close this isn't even a topic, but they are and they have a shot, but I'm more worried about KU ever since Romeo didn't pull the trigger when Vandy had all the momentum. I'd bet IU at the moment, but who knows. All I'm saying is stop acting like we have nothing to sell the kid, which I didn't even bring up playing in his home state, which has shown to be an effective tool for lots of kids. -

Man this thread has really taken off lol. I've been a little busy of late, but Romeo waiting isn't a bad sign for IU. From everything I've heard, he is very focused on his senior season at New Albany and doesn't want many distractions as he wants the scoring title. He also isn't worried about the blow back if he was to choose anyone other than IU. I don't get why people keep saying that. That literally plays no factor. He is the villan in most away games anyways & New Albany loves him, so he knows he wouldn't lose much love regardless. I do know Juwan Morgan's emergence has been something he is happy about and has learned quite a but from our playing style with Archie. At one moment Vandy may have been the favorite and may still be, but they have definitely lost ground. They will be over the scholly limit so they can't get much more help if he plans to go there. Shittu's ACL is a topic of convo as well as Vandy losing the main pieces that have led to 7 wins. It would also mean Romeo has betrayed Adidas which isn't something he wants to do. As one of the first to say Garland was bringing him wherever he went, I don't see that as big of a draw as it once was either. The McDonalds game is gonna something to pay very close attention to. This thing is far from over and anyone other than Romeo and his family knows close to nothing when it comes to who he will choose. -

(2018) G/F Damezi Anderson to Detroit Mercy
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This may be an odd request but Damezi reached out to me asking to spread the word about a friend of his. Harrington Greer is a football prospect and has a Hudl video but not much else. Damezi helps me out with a lot so I figured the least I could do is help spread the word of his friend. Even if it just ends up being a view on his video. Thanks in advance and I don't expect much for us to do but if it helps the slightest I'll feel better. -
So Damezi Anderson reached out to me about this kid on Twitter and besides a Hudl profile I haven't got much info on the kid besides the basics. I was asked to help get his name out there so if anyone knows someone or someone that knows someone that knows someone please spread the word. Thanks in advance.

Penix a QB out of Tamp Bay, played at Tampa Bay Tech has picked up a few crystal balls for IU today. He visited us on the 11th and FSU this past weekend. I have heard we will get him or Bohanon as we made his top 4 as well. Bohanon is higher rated, but Baylor may have the slight edge but we do have a strong shot. Back to Penix though he threw 30 touchdowns to only 5 picks and led his team to an 11-2 mark. I will be extremely happy with him or Bohanon. We are doing a bunch of signing day stuff for those who want to keep up on the info.

Read the article USPS shared. Picks us as the sleeper class in Eric Bossi's opinion. Says Hunter has NBA potential and Phinisee is improving. Adds that Damezi could have a higher ceiling as well. I like Forrester to play a role too. -
(2018) DE Randy Charlton to UCF
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to bhaggard89's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Yes. His family may want him close but he has told me personally that the level he wants to play at, there isn't a fit around him yet. UF or FSU could come calling now with new coaches or maybe USF. He has wanted to get this over with by early signing period since the Summer though. I will try to update if anything else is known. With work and covering recruiting with the signing day haven't been able to get on here much. -

Charlton should be a Hoosier tomorrow -
I fully expect that to be the case but it wouldn't of happened here so I pray it does. I always wish our kids the best and CuJo is a talent. The fit just wasn't right for either side.

Rumblings of us looking at the transfer market. Staff wants to keep it open in case a good player transfers or one that fits Archie's system. Wouldn't mind a look at Evan Boudreux
