  1. Hello all!   Sorry I've been gone so long, but I wanted to pass along that we are playing our last home game at Frank Southern on Friday night vs. Vanderbilt. We'll be honoring our seniors before the game and giving away $5 gift cards to Nick's for the first 100 to attend.   Here is some more information about the game: http://www.iud3hockey.com/#!senior-night/chb3

I wouldn't say there's a better chance. One could argue we'd win more, thus build into a better program and draw more interest, but I wouldn't necessarily say that's the case. ASU had guys on their team who were capable of playing at the NCAA D1 level. We have plenty of very talented players who could have played juniors and NCAA D3 (there is no NCAA D2) but probably none who could play NCAA D1. The D2 and D3 teams don't play against each other. Completely independent programs

We are selling our hockey jerseys again on our website along with other apparel for Cyber Monday! Production on jerseys is about 4-6 weeks.   http://www.iud3hockey.com/#!team-store/c3ax

Penn State has also had a very successful ACHA program for a while before going D1. Paul Graf who is now a professor in the economics department at IU (and our teams advisor) was their assistant coach for a few years while teaching there. If only we had an alumni who could give us a few million to get started...

To go NCAA D1 and join the Big Ten we'd need a very generous donation, talking $10MM+. Cause of Title IX there would have to be funding for a women's sport (not sure what sport they would ever add) and enough to build a new facility, hire staff, and for scholarships. All we can do is build the best program/team possible with the limited resources we have to increase exposure in the community and on campus. Arizona State recently was dominant in the ACHA at the D1 level and had such a big following that they were able to use it to rally together donors all across the country to make the jump. This year they are beginning the transition into the NCAA.

Also as far as the confusion between the two teams goes, we are completely independent programs. It's a long story as to why it operates that way, but currently we both do not operate as one program. The D3 team (who I am with) is not in any way a 'feeder' team to the D2. Guys can't get called up from ours, and there is no joint tryout for the two teams with the best players being put on one and the rest on the other.

Hey everyone, sorry for taking so long to get back on here. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have so feel free to ask away! We are not allowed to offer any sort of scholarships to players. We do recruit through the Indiana hockey system and Chicago travel and high school hockey as well. Although we can't give them an actual scholarship, we still ell players on of course our great university/campus and still being able to play competitive hockey at a high level. A lot of talented players take the route through the ACHA if they can't go NCAA D1 since it gives players a chance to play competitive hockey while still having a full college experience. A good amount of the players on our team are involved with Greek life and also volunteer their time with the Dropping the Puck on Cancer philanthropy frat hockey event that has raised over $100,000 the past four years amongst other involvements on campus.
