  1. I don’t see Slater having any real connection to the recruitment. If the Marquette/indiana ‘insiders’ start picking Marquette, I might finally hang my head, but until then, I’m sticking with my original prediction. FHCTC said it best. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  3. Respectively, nah dawg. He comin' to Btown.
  4. Guys, he's coming to IU. Why the hell wouldn't he?
  5. I know, BigRed, my comment was made in jest. With Memphis flying in, which we know he won’t be attending, I was trying to make a joke. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. Yes. Steve Green sort of let it slip during his time on stage (towards the end) but most people in the crowd were shocked when he walked in. My buddies (HoosierHeartland podcast) got wind of it slightly ahead of time. Not sure how, though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. Let’s hope he’s not lining up the head coaches that are getting “no’s” today.. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  8. You’re correct. Jeff Newton and George Leach co-own the food truck, Oowee BBQ that catered the event. And I just realized I called him Coach McRoberts, not Coach Roberts. My mistake. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  12. I do agree that we need another marquee matchup, but I wouldn't take away the classic. I would take away one of the no-bake cookies we play to start the season. Let's snag that Arizona-Indiana matchup that was alluded to years ago!
  13. I will concede that Kenpom isn't the end all-be all in terms of ranking the quality of teams, but neither is team record when other factors aren't considered. I simply used the easiest ranking system i could find for multiple years to combat a poorly thoughout out arguement that the classic does "nothing" for indiana. It is consistently one of the better games on our schedule. Should it be? Now, THAT is debatable, and I would probably side with you that it SHOULDN"T be one of the better games on the schedule. i would love for Indiana to schedule, at least, some tougher games.
  14. you're right, the Crossroads Classic does nothing for us...except: When it started in 2011, we played ND, who finished 11th in Kenpom (we won) In 2013 (again ND), they finished 36th in Kenpom (we lost) In 2015 (ND), they finished 9th in Kenpom (we won) In 2016 (Butler), they finished 30th in Kenpom (we lost) In 2017 (ND), they finished 27th (we won) In 2018 (Butler), they finished 20th ( we won) The two outliers (2012 and 2014 -- both against butler) are the only time either of those two opponents finished outside of the top 40 in Kenpom, although Butler was ranked #23 when we played them in 2014 -- they faltered down the stretch. Also, with the exception of those two years mentioned above ('12 and '14), EVERY YEAR Indiana's opponent in the Crossroards Classic has made the NCAA tournament. Even if you disagree that Kenpom is necessarily the best ranking system in college basketball, to say that "playing Notre Dame or Butler does nothing for Indiana" is seemingly off base, IMHO.
  15. you're definitely right that these early season opponents Kenpom ratings leave something to be desired.
  16. I read somewhere (can't remember where anymore) that our early season opponents happen to have many new players on their team, which is one of the reason why they could be ranked so low right now -- the unknown factor, sort of. I think, before i did a podcast about the Portland State game, that I read somewhere they had 7 new players. North Alabama has 5. Western Illinois has 8. Perhaps they could end up surprisingly better by the end of the season and help out our SOS.
  17. I agree with this. The B1G/ACC Challenge almost always guarantees us a Quad 1/Quad 2 game, and the Gavitt Games (when we are in them) does so, usually, as well. Not to make it a scheduling debate, but these two games along with ND/Butler and 1-2 other marquee matchups makes for a good start to the nonconference schedule.
  18. Agreed with the defensive struggles. We need to get that fixed. And soon. Can Green give us a spark on defense once he gets back? And on a positive note (in no way connected to your post, just wanting to say it), I have been very pleased with the halftime adjustments of this squad in its first three games. Archie & Co. has shown an ability to do that better so far this season.
  19. I know this isn't 'news' but Tipton Edits officially declaring November 20th as Dawson's announcement date. I know that date has always been mentioned, so this is probably not even new...
  20. Guys....as a fan base, we should root for our team to do well, not for other teams to lose or do poorly. Just kidding. **** KENTUCKY
  21. If I could make a crystal ball pick, I would pick IU. So there's that...
  22. Well, let’s hope that if it is this weekend, Archie can get one last meeting in with him face to face. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
