  1. Cignetti turned the basketball job down.
  2. In my defense.....I wasn't on this board when Miller got hired. Also I think despite my childish behavior with some posters, I've never had any kind of hullabaloo with you.
  3. Well, if I can't avoid gifs, might as well join.
  4. You might want to add that Stirtz had 11 assists and 5 rebounds in the Vanderbilt game -- which they won 81-70.
  5. Didn't Kentucky go from offering huge money to Drew to Pope as the next option?
  6. I do have to say I don't know how much credit he should be getting for that. Trayce Jackson Davis certainly improved under Woodson but finding a guy that fits that bill -- no outside game at all -- that fits into the NBA is like striking gold that likely isn't going to be struck again. It's not like we should be seeing Ballo or Reneau at the next level. JHS seemingly got way over drafted and is a mid range shooter that probably should have never been drafted where he was. In the end, there will have only been one successfully NBA player come from IU under Woodson.
  7. I have yet to understand how the complete narrative of McCollum is determined by a first round matchup where his team is obviously less talented than his opponent.
  8. @Uspshoosierdoes the fact that IU played only three Q4 games have any pull? FWIW, only 5 teams played 3 or fewer Q4 games.
  9. Last time in Indy is was Kilroy’s.
  10. The context of where he did that.
  11. I talked about that in a post above. It was a joke but also highlights that Chris Beard is a high ceiling guy but also a risk.
  12. I was on the same lines......I never understood the Woodson hire but didn't feel the need to pile on. Gave it a chance. Thought that the issues the first year could partially be attributed to the roster makeup -- NIL not totally in full swing yet. But after time passed and continued to see he never changed the approach and then also saw players leave and then look better elsewhere while players who came in looked worse than they did prior to coming in -- it was obvious. It was a nepo hire. I think you would also agree that there are multiple answers to who the next coach is that can work out. You watch more college ball than anyone and know there are numerous guys that can succeed at IU.
  13. Better: did you get over half the hump or half the hump to still get over?
  14. It was a joke. But there is some truth in it. We can worry about doing the same thing in four years and hiring a new coach. But the truth is that we there is a history where you are doing it a lot sooner with Chris Beard. Beard is a high ceiling coach but the floor is low as well because of other factors.
  15. The only true time to panic is when @Uspshoosier is panicking about our hire. And Usps never panics. No matter what is said on a message board, who the hire is isn't going to change. There are a lot of good coaches out there. Some just don't have the same name recognition.
  16. McCollum 30 wins is more wins than Chris Beard had at Texas in two years. Well....if less than two years.
  17. With zero resources and playing the second half of conference without two of his best three players, it’s a victory that they made the BTT.
  18. So we are going to judge his ability when his 11 seed team half full of D2 players goes against a 6 seed? Truth is whether he wins or not, it's a one game snapshot.
  19. Nebraska had an OT game this week that would likely at least temporarily put them in the field. Brutal end to the season.
  20. Every time I worry about an elite coach getting IU to the promised land, I remember that both Mike and Hubert Davis have been to title games. Now, those kind of coaches won't consistently do that but it does show that roster construction is huge. If Woodson could have just constructed the roster wisely, he'd probably be here despite having bad X and O skill.
  21. Think you reading waaaaayyyyyy too much into that.
  22. Meh. You can never be wrong when you post things that are left to interpretation.
