So we have a guy that coached at the NBA level, who is an ex IU player, and whom his player in the NBA seem to gush over. And an ex Butler/OSU coach that had a ton of success, knows the MW, and who can coach and develop.... If you can't at least be partially optimistic with that combo, not sure what to tell you. I would have taken either individually over Archie, and now we have two.

IU is hiring former Butler and Ohio State coach Thad Matta as associate AD for men's basketball administration. Matta will assist an IU staff that will be led by new coach Mike Woodson.

how do you embed a tweet? I've tried the link, and the embed.

IDK. Nothing seems strange to me. They've been kicking the tires on several folks. Perhaps they just finally made the decision. And if so, then they would naturally have to bring in more people to be in the know. And when you start expanding the circle, leaks happen. And a lot of leaks are planned/purposeful anyway on things like this.
-
I heard he kicks puppies too.

What is better, rolling the dice this year, or next. The only difference is spending more money that IU isn't paying anyway, this year. And had we waited, there would have been apathy overdrive.
-
I'd be OK with Woodson. Like I said last week when he became the Vegas frontrunner, he might not be a rockstar/guarantee, but he's a very solid dice roll.
-
I have zero clue on his track record.

So is Chronic Hoosier a reliable guy, or someone prone to trolling?

big hire... lol

It's not easy anywhere. We just need a change, and hoping this one is a charm In the late 80s when I was there, a lot of players were partiers. Not all, but you could find most out enjoying college life on the weekends. And they did get in trouble a bit here and there. It just never got out, or was publicized. And it was not really bad stuff. No phone cams back then, and no 24/7/365 beat writers and twitterers running around. I think RMK was tougher on academics and basketball, then silly college stuff like drinking. I'm sure he ran kids legs off, but I also think he was just old school, and was OK with kids having a little fun so long as they were busting their buts in the classroom and on the court. And not being a knucklehead. But yes, kids are kids, and college is a time to have fun. IMO, I'd prefer the same type of approach by the next coach. Tough on basketball effort, tough on classroom effort. And a little soft on the drinking/fun so long as the kids aren't uber dumb.

I'd take Stevens easily over Oats, but I'd be pretty happy with Oats. He's only making 2.4. At minimum, he's going to get a raise.
-
IDK. Seems like the other "blue bloods" have better luck for whatever reason. I can't buy that it's luck.
-
Yup, Oat's rise is pretty impressive. 3 MAC tourney championships in 4 years at Buf, and 1 SEC championship and S16 in two years (really only one year since last year was canceled).
-
Yup, a lateral move, that likely pays very well. And we still don't seem to be able to lock down any of our top tier guys from non-blue blood programs...

Bama has always been FB first, but the SEC in general is starting to take BB more seriously now that KY is vulnerable. Also, Bama is likely preparing for the days post-Saban, and know they need to pay a bit more attention to BB. Bama has some huge boosters too, so it's not like they don't have money to compete in both FB and BB donor stuff.

He checks the hot-wife box.
