Why would anyone ask Crean to coach coaches?

Of all of the criticism... Recruiting the state is the one that just makes absolutely no sense. That's one of the things this staff has done really well. People were saying the same things ten years ago. It will always be a complaint.

Yet people complain that we got Hartman instead of Irvin. I don't disagree with the essence of your point. I just think it's really splitting hairs when Crean has prioritized the hell out of Indiana. Not every kid wants to go to IU. There's always going to be a laundry list of names. For one, there isn't enough room. And two, it's really hard to predict. Look at RJ Hunter. I don't remember anyone here clamoring for IU to recruit him or G. Robinson. Only after the fact... Revisionist history. I still maintain the only Indiana kid that mattered that IU didn't get was Gary Harris. Lyles, too. But Crean got him to see the vision and then got screwed. Sh!t happens. I don't get the projects at all. I can't argue any of that. Peter was a good prospect but the others... I'd rather have a kid like Jeff Howard

Team play in Indiana FAR exceeds what is going on at these prep schools. If you can't score off the dribble, you can't score. It's a joke.

I would love to see a coach recruit kids only from Indiana and let's see where that gets IU. Probably won't ever happen, though

Well, when his practices are under an hour starting in the middle of January... I can't come up with a clear answer as to why that happens though I would disagree that it happens every year. We have like a 4 year sample size. That's not that much especially considering extenuating circumstances with this given job/situation. I don't think I'm that far apart from where you guys are on things... I just can't jump to the conclusions that you can without having a working knowledge of the day to day.

Who are the coaches that have the magic touch in February and March? What is it about Tom Crean that leads you to believe he is the root of late season struggles? Serious questions. Syracuse... I don't think that one is all on Crean. Poor recognition by a number of players, lottery players included, killed IU in that game. Not preparation lol.

What's your explanation for the end to the 2012-13 season? I'd love to hear. I think Indiana fans in general are to be commended for having such high expectations. No one else looks at IU like that, though. Like no one.

Tom Crean brought the following players to IU: Jordan Hulls, Christian Watford, Victor Oladipo, Will Sheehey, Cody Zeller, Yogi Ferrell, Noah Vonleh, Troy Williams, Collin Hartman, Devin Davis, James Blackmon, Robert Johnson, etc... To me that blows either of the prior coaches out of the water. Those are Indiana basketball guys. I don't fault anyone for disagreeing if you prefer Bracey Wright and co. Indiana high school guys, and guys who have entrenched themselves as Hoosiers. Isn't that what everyone always complains about? Having that kind of person.
