I think I was the only one that didn't like Nick Z .... because he is a liability on defense so much it's worth his shooting....I mean he shaved the season single-handedly in Minnesota this year, but he couldn't guard my sister.

Touche´ I was wrong....I don't remember him shooting that many triples or being that much of an offensive minded or good player.

Troy doesn't play very good defense for a player of his ability. He gets a lot of blocks coming over another guy, but he seems to fall asleep a lot or just not know what is going on a lot of times... -
this is exactly what I was trying to say, but it come off wrong...

I agree. At the start of the year NOBODY was helping out. I wish I could see the percentage of how many times players blow by him and go into the lane. Every game I yell at the TV at least 3 times because of this...but those triples he hit vs minn. were HUGE.

Hartman is a Jr...he should be really good next year....OG and Morgan are exactly right, if they stay 4 years they will be really, really good. Woodbury was a low 4 star high 3 star recruit...and he is a senior. my point. stayed 4 years. He is also 7'1 and you can't teach height so kind of the exception... I'm not saying this kid will be great, good, or bad. It's too hard to tell.
-
programs have a lot of success if they can bring in solid 3-4 stars and they stay all 4 years just like they can have success with 5 stars one and done. Look at Iowa, no big recruits, but mid recruits now upcomer classmen, and playing great. The problem is, Creanie will cut them or make them transfer. I saw this kid play last year. Great shooter, reminded me of Todd Leary type shooter. He rebounds good for a High School kid that is 6'4 playing against smaller kids. I would love to see him get redshirted his freshman year, but Crean doesn't seem to use the redshirt.... I also think Creanie thinks he needs a shooter to spread his offense, and is why he grabbed him up...

Does anybody else think that maybe that gimmick 2-3 zone that IU was running was to protect Blackmon Jr? I just think Crean knows/knew that JBJ can't guard anybody because he has no lateral movement, and I really think that was why he went to that gimmick zone. He likes having a shooting in his offense, and JBJ is lights out. I just think his knees are worse than anybody knew, and Crean was trying to protect him.... If you look at when he was still playing with Hartman and NZ, all 3 of them have had knee trouble. NZ is just as bad as JBJ at guarding one on one, and Hartman is a tweener, not quick enough to be a guard or a 3 or guard a guard or a 3, but not big enough to guard a 4. He is basketball smart, as is NZ, but just not quick and on a bum knee. I really think that is one reason, and another might be his coaching at Marquette where you have to kind of do a gimmick when playing more athletic teams, but he did have some athletes there.... I like Hartman, I think he is a good kid, but I think OG should play more just for defensive reasons alone. Anybody else have any thoughts on why Crean was playing that zone earlier in the year? or am I over thinking it and it was just something Crean was trying?

That is a big key and great point! They weren't great, but IU got a few calls that could have gone to the gophers. two charge calls one they called a block, I think Yogi was driving, maybe not though, but the player was set, and then a charge our way.... they were bad, and natural home teams get more foul calls as refs are influenced by the fans, just natural, but they were bad both ways. Now I can't find the source, but Crean says he likes to take the Freshman out after they make a good play so they can leave on something positive or some BS like that. It's dumb to me, it's like ok he made a good play, let's see if he can make another one why bench him? It could be a mismatch and you might want to keep going at it....but that's just me....I also heard Creanie say he doesn't call turnovers mistakes or something like that because it is a negative word and he doesn't want negativity around..... So I think that is the reason. -

I am not the biggest Chad Ford guy either, but it was the first one I thought the name of....I know he is on another 2 that I saw, I will search for links if needed but google it. The Lakers had Vonleh work out for them too. If Vonleh hit 1 out of 2 3 pointers at Indiana that's 50%, and it could be that low of a sample. This kid had limited Offensive game in college, and Bryant is way beyond him in that capacity. Did you see that move he did today(yesterday) vs Minn. with the spin on the baseline? Also this is just my opinion on things, that I try to back up with facts, and I can admit when I am wrong or if my opinion changes. My opinion right now, Bryant goes pro. He has a better chance at coming back with the new league rules allowing him to come back though which is great for IU. I think it will also help with Troy Williams who I think coming into the year, he was dead set on this being his last year at IU, but he hasn't had a great year. He plays too fast at times, and I don't think his left hand is there. He can def play in the NBA with his athletic ability, size, hops, etc....but I think preseason he was a sure top 20 pick, now I don't think so. Again as an IU fan, I would love for both of them to come back.

Bryant has been in most of the mock drafts I have seen....Chad Ford has had him top 20 all year. He will go pro and he should at least test the market with the new rule. The league minimum is over half a million. That's just to sit the bench, as a rookie. A lottery pick is around $2 million, and first round is over a million besides the last 7 picks... He could probably come back and develop his game and be a for sure lottery pick, but would you personally risk the chance of injury? or risk the chance of anything else and going from say a top 20 pick to not picked? I mean of course we could use him next year, and I want him back. I just don't see it happening... What? Vonleh can't shoot, that was his problem. Are you taking on defense? And Vonleh almost fell really bad in the draft. You might not know the story. The teams that worked him out, didn't like him at all. They didn't tell the other teams of course, but then he didn't get picked by anybody and was falling in the draft. Michael Jordan had the 9th pick, and of course he had on his board the list of players to take, but he thought Vonleh would be gone. So Jordan makes the dumb decision of drafting him without working him out at all. Another bad drafting move by the guy who took Kwame Brown #1. If Jordan didn't pull the trigger who knows how far he might have fallen.
