Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Dane Fife (Michigan State Asst.)
pumpfake replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We need to be far more than competitive. Let the guy prove himself and work up the ladder a bit. I can't think of a riskier proposition than hiring Fife. -
Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Dane Fife (Michigan State Asst.)

Really? His winning percentage is .458 - you don't hire a guy with numbers like that to take over a program like ours. -
2017 March Madness Tournament Thread
pumpfake replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Thought I'd look in on the Broilees, but realized they're on truTV and I don't get that channel. Oh well, I still hope they lose. -
Let's hope it's a glimpse into the future of Hoosier basketball.
-
Hopefully not because he mentioned a past history of success (I don't think a .458 winning percentage at FW meets that requirement).

Laughing at BTN imbeciles, thinking any "current NBA coach" interest is Brad Stevens. Also, had to shake my head hearing Shaun Morris talking about how the fans didn't embrace Tom Crean. Hey, Shaun, it is poor fundamental basketball that we didn't embrace.

Updated the avatar, now time to watch the presser, then some games and open a Sierra Nevada or two.

Flightaware for MC airport. Too soon?

From an article in the Indy Star today, Brad says he has no interest in returning to the college game and he loves being an NBA coach. That might change, but I'd guess we may never see him coach "amateurs" again.

Nicely done, indeed!

I stepped away for a few minutes to gobble up a bowl of chili and saw the breaking news on the TV. I flipped on Dakich (why did I do that?!!) and he was pissing and moaning about the decision. Then he scoffed at Archie as a replacement and said just go get Alford or Fife. The easy part if finally over, now let's get the critical part right and climb back up that mountain!
-
If true (and if it were, we'd never get confirmation of it) that would be a game changer for the positive. If it's just simply replacing Crean with Fife, it would be the biggest (and dumbest) gamble I could imagine. Of course. Who knows what is what anymore.
-
If this is entirely true, it would be my worst nightmare come true.
-
Heck, they should start a gofundme page - I'll pony up as much as I can afford!
-
Gee. I sure don't remember UK, or UNC lollygagging around waiting for some "soft-landing" before they fired their coach. Those programs didn't wait 9 season before moving on to the next guy. This is embarrassing.
-
Yes. 1000 pages makes this petition official. Now let's get to firein' and hirein', damnit.
-
Honestly, I'm beginning to believe the administration and Mr. Glass himself actually embrace mediocrity.

Only two people on earth - Freddie G. and "hoosiertildeath"
-
True. But then again, compared to how our AD seems to be handling things, the 'boys' have great brainial knowledge too.

I'd have to think if FG is being lambasted by donors, and if he's forced to make a change, he's not in a good spot going forward. As for Cuban's assessment that TC is a "great" coach - I recall people with more cred in the IUBB program (Kent Benson for one) essentially demanding that we hire Mike Davis. I've been under the impression that Cuban doesn't give a lot of money to the athletic department because he hates the NCAA (kind of like how I hate the NBA, LOL).

T-minus Ten pages and counting.....

Bozich article At Indiana Basketball, the Spotlight Turns From Tom Crean to Fred Glass
-
The positive about hiring Alford would be to finally shut up the ones that continually pimp for him. The negative is that if he fails to meet expectations, he'll be waaaay harder to get rid of than Crean.
-
Yup. Hedging. He just characterized poor seasons as simply "not optimal". LOL.
