Best of luck to him. Interesting point about transitions not always taking off "smooth". In retrospect I think much of his failure here started in his first month with being forced to keep players & recruits and not pursue the guard he had successfully recruited for UD - that could have been a huge difference maker for us. Unfortunatey he never really got any momentum here.

Regarding improvement, particularly off-season, I'm a bit jaded. Too many players have failed to improve their skill level and made the same mistakes season after season. I believe there is good opportunity for several guys to get better and contribute more next year, but I can't fully believe it until I see it. Playing better D, making smart plays, etc. seem quite "do-able" - becoming good 3 point shooters is something I'm not sold on.

No worries. It'd be fantastic if Woody & staff can get even close to the level of prep RMK did - likely the best the college game has seen. -

Certainly never in the Archie era. IMO, that guy did little more than tread water when he was here and left behind a sub-mediocre situation. -

Unfortunately unexpected departures is something a lot of teams may have to deal with. But it can provide us with opportunities to grab a few. For the record, I don't like this "free agency" situation the NCAA has allowed to develop. -

B- I think Woodson may be a bit like Knight - better at teaching and preparation than in-game decisions & adjustments, IDK. I think CMW's real judgement comes between now and November. He has a year under his belt, what decisions and moves does he pursue? -
I was thinking about the improved defense - we had a really good team defense rank, yet struggled to stop individual players when they got hot (Murray, Harper jr., Fatts Whatshisname). Maybe we didn't have an individual shutdown defender (i.e. talent) but rather relied on team effort. That seems like good coaching. Unfortunately we were so lacking in shooting skills we needed magic or divine intervention. John Wooden + Bob Knight couldn't made us an above average team on offense.

Woodson couldn't craft a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but he did make a credible change purse. Archie left him with a hodgepodge of mediocre players, none of which could shoot worth a damn. Beyond TJD, nobody special. Mike knows and sees our deficiencies, I hope he and the entire staff go balls out to get the skills and type of playets we lack.
