I don’t care what he did in the NBA, IU doesn’t play in the NBA. And anyway, Sampson was never a head coach in the NBA and was only there because he couldn’t coach in college. Sampson has won 68% of his games in college. He’s won over 600 games in his career. He’s won the Big 12 1x, the Big 12 tournament 3x, the AAC 2x, and the AAC tournament once. He’s been to two final fours, three elite eights, and four sweet 16s. He’s turned Houston into a regular top 10 team. He’s an outstanding college coach. I would much rather have him as our coach than Woodson.

Sampson is a phenomenal coach. I wholeheartedly believe we’d have another banner here if we had kept him. But, the administration didn’t like how he did things, and we’ve had over a decade of mediocrity since then.

If we really were going to give Brad Stevens $10 million I don’t believe we couldn’t have thrown $6-7 million at a marque guy to entice them to leave their school for us. I don’t know if I believe the narratives, but if I do, we went Stevens 1 and then Woody 2. That’s… not great.

Just a brutal loss. That was one we really needed, and one we absolutely should’ve had. 18-12 and 9-11 in the conference is looking like the most likely outcome. Not how I thought this year would go.

How tf was that a double technical foul? Who on our team got the technical?

On one hand that was good of our team keeping their composure. But I’d be lying if I said I liked that reaction by our team to a guy throwing a wild elbow at Xavier like that.

Ohio State deserves to lose for calling their arena the nuthouse.

Ohio State isn’t even that good imho, this is a game we should be winning but we’re doing IU things.

At least when Crean lost our scores were like 85-75 and the games were entertaining.

We ran something to get Stewart a good look and it worked.. what a concept.

This team’s biggest problem is that we have multiple players who shouldn’t be playing but no one better to replace them with. Kopp not playing is the obvious choice, but the answer to “who do we play instead” isn’t obvious at all. Bates had a nice game against MSU but has been a dud otherwise.

But, being down 5 is not bad at all down a few guys and Xavier playing like it’s his first time on the court.

Tough missed by Leal there. Shooting is supposed to be his biggest strength.

Need to find a way to keep getting Stewart good looks from 3 (and get him to take them).

Gard definitely should’ve been suspended for a game. He was a big instigator in the situation.

Howard should’ve slapped him harder.

I don’t know what happened but Wisconsin deserved it, lol.

He was a key contributor on their best team since 1995. I don’t think it’s weird that he’d go, and I’d be more surprised if he didn’t. Fitzner, no. Bieldfelt coming back would make sense to me though. He was on a conference title team/sweet 16 team. I think he’s been back too.

Maybe Woody should bring out the paddle if he really wants the players to listen then.

There are few guarantees in college basketball, but playing a six-man rotation and playing 5 of those 6 players 34+ minutes will certainly decrease your odds of winning. Anthony Leal averages 11 mpg when he actually plays, and he doesn't always play. In his previous 4 appearances he played 5 minutes, 1 minute, 1 minute, and 3 minutes. He played 34 minutes against Northwestern. Northwestern is not a good team. We were beating them until our players became gassed. I absolutely think we win with those 5 players available.

You’re right, choices have consequences. Woody chose to suspend our players for a very winnable road game because of a minor infraction and now we’re very much on the bubble. Woody wants to act like Bob Knight decades after Knight’s philosophy went out the window and without Knight’s resume.
