I really like Beard. His teams play hard and tough. And he is getting solid recruits to LUBBOCK. Imagine what he could do if he was actually at a school that stressed basketball. Plus he has a great personality for the big stage. He has my vote. But I'll be positive with whoever is hired. Got to believe that better days are ahead for our beloved Hoosiers.

Hard to see Shaka going anywhere at this point. He finally tuned a corner this year. Shaka has 2 years left on his contact with a 7.1 million dollar buyout. If Texas really wanted Beard, they would have to pony up nearly 20 million in buyouts just to make the move and that's not counting what they would actually pay Beard. Not saying it couldn't happen, but it's just interesting to look at the numbers.

Are you really judging a Coach's whole body of work based on one half of basketball?

This isnt related to the search, but is related to Coach Stevens During Coach Steven's last year at Butler, I had had the opportunity to attend a Butler shoot-around and game at Hinkle. I was also able to being my dad. Coach Stevens came out and spoke to us before the shoot around and he could not have been a more down to earth individual. I was able to see first hand how he interacted with players and I understood why he was so respected. He is a class act. Side note: We also got to shoot around in Hinkle which was really special for my dad since he had played there years ago as a member of the Connersville Spartans. Great memories! Come home Coach!

I look at it like this, this is a fluid situation, just like everything else in this world. At this point, things look promising that Coach Stevens is coming home and that's exactly what our friends 007 and 0708 are saying. Nothing is certain in life, so quit asking these guys if this is a done deal. Things can always change, no matter how "guaranteed" they may seem. In the meantime, quit worrying and get some satisfaction that our beloved Hoosiers are finally swinging for the fences. Better days are ahead.

You are probably right, no way I would leave if I was him either. I just always really liked him and if age is not a factor, then I would rather give him a chance. But why would he leave his current gig?
