No hate - I get what you're saying. I don't think they're going to be good but they were definitely missing a pg last year and I do think he'll help next year. Also not sure UM will be any good either so they need the win/s over Purdue and spike could be the difference- as well in some other games against lower tier teams in the conference.
-
UM should've kept him if nothing else but to help get 2 wins (if they play Purdue twice) in head-to-head games. But also, bc Purdue desperately needs a pg, I bet he's worth 3-5 in-conference wins alone.

Yup. The good news is 1) defense travels and we're playing solid defense and 2) (assuming everyone is healthy for the tournament) we have a deep bench and multiple people who can score. -

Man I feel like he's developed so much between last year and this year. Not just a 1-trick pony anymore. Solid D, learning to create a shot off the dribble AND the deadly 3. Could you imagine if he had another 1-2 years to develop.... -

I feel any of the top 15 teams could win it this year. No one team stands out. If we get the right match ups and we peak at the right time, then we have a chance. -

We'd have to dominate the big tourney and have a few chips fall in the right place but I'd say there's a chance for a #1. Don't they look at how hot a team is playing towards the end of a season? I'd love to see us keep the momentum going next weekend. -

What does this say about the coaching / ability to develop a player between CTC vs Beilein? -

We Are The Champions IU vs Iowa Post Game Thread
716e11th replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
CTC used to be labeled as a bad "in-game" coach. I have to say last night, given the foul trouble, multiple looks on defense by Iowa, and different ways Iowa was attacking us on offense (bc of our players sitting from fouls), CTC's in-game coaching was top notch. Actually both coaches coached their respective teams very well in my opinion. -

The Tony Larussa reference was spot on. Maybe it's why he does his unusual lineups / substitutions. -
IU vs Nebraska Post Game Thread

Our man defense was horrible the first half. NU was beating everyone off the dribble and getting to the rim way too easily. Glad they fixed that. Odd question- in the first half, Myles is halfway on the court during our offensive possessions. Could one of our players toss a ball at him? Would it be a technical on Myles for being on the court? -
Up ~8-10 with ~ 3 minutes to go in the half and left TB in with 2 fouls. Dickie V. was calling for the substitution for him - I agree in that TB was worthless on D bc of the fouls.

I don't how competitive this game was but based on the score - maybe it's bc they blew the team out by 27 points and he didn't have to do much??

Interesting that yogi, RJ, and OG accounted for > 50% of our points. Everyone else was in single digits. I think we left a lot of points out there, especially since we were 10-33 on 3-pointers. Good defense always travels well and was the key to us blowing them out. We need to find that sports psychologist Fife used to help NZ get and stay back on track. -
Indiana v. Northwestern POSTGAME Thread

I'm sure the lack of JBJ vs defense is better holds some water. But did CTC just make it simpler? I really haven't seen any zone and definitely not any switch from man to zone with 10 seconds on the shot clock. I remember Dackich said during a game when we were struggling- just learn/execute 1 type of defense really really well, then you can add more looks. I feel I like we're learning to play 1 type really well. -

Looked like we played man coverage the whole game? I guess not much need to change things up when you're winning by 20-30+ points. -

One of my biggest concerns (first is defense) this year was our half court offense. Seems to be good this year. -
