IUBB @ Penn State - Wednesday, 1/11/23 @ 7:00 on BTN
Baltimore Hoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
18-31 (58%) from three?! Is that some kind of record?! IU perimeter defense is pure garbage. -
2022-23 IUBB AP/Coaches Polls
Baltimore Hoosier replied to LIHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Still need to find a guy or two that can hit treys with some consistency. Still the biggest weakness for IU imo. -
I thought Stewart did fine against Moldanado last night, but I'm not sure what people saw that was "great" or "amazing" about his performance. IU is obviously better when he's hitting shots, but if not, I would rather see them go big with Geronimo or let Bates get some experience. Both are streaky and can provide a spark.

Hopefully someone can work with Xavier on his shot. That thing is ugly despite 32% from three.

What about Calbert Cheaney? I think he adds instant credibility with recruits. Being the leading scorer in the history of the Big Ten is no joke. -

If I was Fife, I'm not sure I'd want to leave one assistant job for another. He's been a head coach at the D1 level. He could probably run a program somewhere. Same with Lewis... Why would he leave a coaching job at UCLA to be an assistant at IU? I think we should be realistic here. -
Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD

Hopefully they use the rest of the coaching budget to hire a killer team of assistants around Woodson. -
Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
Baltimore Hoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've been saying I'm not going to let IU Basketball get my hopes up, but it's too late. I've gotten nothing accomplished at work this week because I'm perpetually refreshing my feeds. -

Stevens is my top choice, but just like Billy D several years ago, I don't think it's happening. I am doing my research and focusing attention on guys like Drew, Belien, and Beard who I think are realistic, qualified, and more likely options. -

So far I think Stevens, Alford, and Oates have all said they have no interest. Am I forgetting anyone? -

Agree that he has been a "program whisperer" of sorts and could potentially bring success sooner rather than later.. But I don't like the idea of a 70 year old on the IU sideline. -

I like Belein's ability.. But he's not the long term answer. -

Unless the honeymoon deteriorated rapidly over the last 7 months, I don't see how it could possibly already be over. Maybe if they have an early exit in the playoffs? -

I'm sure this has been beaten to death, but is Stevens going to void his contract extension with arguably the greatest franchise in the history of professional basketball to coach IU? I get why everyone wants him but I don't think it's reasonable to think it will happen unless someone knows something I don't. -

Haven't heard anyone mention John Scheyer, so I'll throw that name out there as a contrarian option. He's been the primary recruiter at Duke since Capel left. Lead contact for guys like Tatum, Jones brothers, and Ingram. Coach K understudy. Young and energetic. X's and O's guy who knows how to run an offense. -

Would hate to see Lander (or any of the rising sophomores) leave the program. KL has elite vision. Obviously needs to work on shooting form/accuracy and decision making but kid can handle the rock and make things happen. -

I’m a bit concerned about another major roster turnover/rebuild if there is a coaching change. I think there are some pieces in place to be really excited about. And if TJD comes back (and he should), this could be a very strong team in 21-22’. I guess I don’t have enough inside info to know if these players love Archie or would welcome a change. -

I was vocal about hating this hire so I guess I was ahead of my time.
