They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
HoosierCoop replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Normally if a player is marked questionable relating to injury or illness, it's always a game time decision to see if they will make it in the starting line-up or even play at the next game. Not at IU, we are looking to see if the coach will make it to the sidelines or not. -

Agreed! In a workplace situation, if the higher-ups wanted you gone, it was immediate to save embarrassment and lessen the risk of any detriment to the establishment. -

I could honestly show my productivity chart at work for the last eight years. It will show a glaring statistic of when a potential IU coaching change is near. -

We are vastly approaching 2000 pages!!!! -
I respect that, however: Galloway (on and off the bench, and injury) Leal (always a bench guy) Carlyle (how was he all conference mention?) Goode (6th man on Illinois and Indiana) MM (low IQ) Rice? (this is a mystery) Ballo (needs a better supporting cast) Tucker (5* could be a great player with right leadership) Reneau (I'll give you this one)

My son and I talked after the game last night and here is some excerpts from our conversation: Why does every team that we play look physically bigger and stronger than us? We just do not look tough compared to others. We are just not talented. We have a team of "6th men" and low IQ players. Not a good recipe and you can't teach at this point. Our coaching staff relies on players to make things happen than coaching them into a game plan. Again not a good recipe. This team is lost, floundering, and done. Don't expect anything out of them the rest of the season. Everyone is ready to move on. Senior night, I am really anxious to see how that will go. Who will speak? Who will they thank? How will the crowd react? I'm anticipating a funeral procession. This is one of the saddest, most underperforming season in modern IU basketball.

With the right coach and NIL, I would love to see the Cooper Flagg's of the world come to IU. We need some generational players through the program. -

Hey, Bobby does have IU ties you know. He was the IU PG in Blue Chips don't forget. -

Yeah, I don't think he goes old school with the "goomar" (ode to the Sopranos) like his dad. -
I wish that this staff would see what they had special in West Lafayette and play that new core group line-up. They have seen a good recipe but they try and add the same old ingredients Just doesn't taste right. Ballo, Goode, Gallaway, MM, Leal, I'll even throw Hatton out there (he is playing better than Reneau).

Mbacko-probably gone - Agree he is probably gone, too one dimensional. Reneau-depends on coach? - Reneau stays, although his role on the team would completely change IMO. Rice- really hope he stays? - I hope he stays, he needs to develop mentally and physically. Carlisle- would love to see him with a decent coach - I think we can do better in the portal. Tucker- dad seems to like Woodson? - The talent is there, we just can't see it yet, need someone to pull it out. However, gone Cupps-Well liked on campus who knows? - He loves IU, but will never have a good shot at playing. Gone (Dayton?) Newton- maybe back to Georgia to be closer to home? - Will probably transfer. Sisley- signed with IU not Woodson - He is IU through and through, will flourish here with the right coach. He'll be better than anticipated. Zrno- mystery guy, depends on coach? - Nick Z 2.0? He will stay committed to IU. He will be a mystery player. Braylon Mullins-Hire a decent coach and he decommits U Conn and comes to IU lol - I thought of this too the other night. Right coach may sway his commitment? Stevens (close to home) or Hurley (and play for a D-bag). We need a rim protector, a dog of a wingman, and a dead eye SG. We say that every year though. -
...as if the anticipation wasn't enough, you had to pull this out.

I watched this game last night and I am still wondering how we won that game. LSU had everything going for them. Dean Garrett went on lock down in the 2nd half. None of those LSU players went on to anything in the NBA.

I miss that team!!! So much personality and leadership.
