I disagree. Scott had no choice but to announce it when he did. The boos and emails were coming in fast. Dusty May was coming to town that weekend . It would have been an ugly moment for Indiana basketball if he waited. Dolson was just trying to stay in front of that game. It wasn’t because we are hiring Stevens or Dusty May.

Too lazy to read back . Why all of a sudden two out of three insiders not as confident in we have our guy? What has changed.? Never bought it anyway but still had some glimmer of hope.

I think when all the dust settles we end up either a Buzz kill or a Cronin. Good coaches but not what we are hoping for.

If we can’t get Dusty away from Michigan, I’d throw the money at Bruce Pearl. He’s old but a better coach than many others listed.

They wouldn’t have to be. Woodson has sucked for the last two seasons. Dusty is a family friend.

I have a theory. Insider’s insiders get wind of Scott Dolson having his guy. Insiders from previous years assume it’s Stevens for obvious reasons, but in reality it’s Dusty May. Not a bad constellation prize, but makes more sense if you look at Brad’s current job title.

We had our chance to hire him. There were several of us last year pleading for it. If we don’t get Dusty, it’s our own damn fault !

I forgot to mention earlier when I was promoting Dusty May, is the concern that Stevens comes here and decides it’s not for him. He will always be on the radar for NBA jobs at all levels. We could then be doing this again 3 years from now, missing out on May, Beard, and others high on the list. I would rather have a guy that definitely wants to be here for the long haul. This a real concern of mine!

So I’ve thought about the coaching search a little more today. I’m still a Dusty May guy. I appreciate the information that Our two best insiders give us. Though if the Brad Stevens numbers end up being true, I believe that’s way too much money on a guy who’s been out of college coaching for that length of time. I believe Stevens is riskier than many of the hot college coaches we have been looking at collectively. I think Brad was the guy to go after the first or possibly the second time around,. I too believe we crapped the bed when we had a chance at Bruce Pearl and others like him.. If he was 5-10 years younger, Pearl would still be my number 1.

I wouldn’t take Cronin or Few over Pearl and May. I also like Beard better than Cronin and Few. and even though I don’t truly believe we have a chance with Stevens, I’m not sure he’s the best candidate now that he’s been out of college coaching. Pearl May/Beard Stevens
