I think the people who dislike Marshall would quickly change their tune when we start winning 25 games a year, compete for conference titles, and go to a couple final fours. Marshall would be an excellent hire and is right there with Bennett and Archie for me.

Alright, I know everyone is coming up with sources these days. So take this FWIW. Just talked to an old college roommate who knows someone with connections to the athletic department. This guy apparently says Crean is for sure gone at the end of the season and IU is trying to help him land somewhere. Just confirming what all the other sources are saying about Crean. I know this doesn't help with a new coach but wanted to post it.

In today's age, there is no such thing as "locking down the state". Social media and technology in general has forever changed that. It's well known that Wilkes went to UCLA for the supposed connections in LA he could make. Not for Alford

Anybody that thinks Alford would recruit even close to the level that he has at UCLA are in for a rude awakening. UCLA recruits itself, regardless of who the coach is. Yeah, Alford might get a couple more Indiana guys, but in today's world "locking down the state" will never happen. Isn't the whole reason we want to get rid of Crean because he's a mediocre X's and O's guy? Alford is on Crean's level or worse in that regard. Just last year he was 15-17, and what do you know, he gets top talent and starts succeeding. What happens if he doesn't have a team full of 5 stars? I'd have to look up the stats, but as others have mentioned he never has top defenses. I think this is another case of being okay with someone because they went to IU. Just because someone went here, doesn't mean they will be a good fit/hire. I think people who want Alford are really misguided. Jmo

I get this, but I'll respectfully disagree. Why should we blindly support an administration that makes bad hire after bad hire? I'll always love my university, but that doesn't mean I should have to stand for mediocrity either just because it's there. At some point, accountability has to happen or nothing ever changes
