To expand on my comment, a great example is Draymond Green defending Dwight Howard in the western conference finals. He's 6'7 and weighs around 30 pounds less, yet more than held his own. That comes from desire, toughness, and an absolute win at any cost attitude. We need some of that on our team

I get what you mean, but strength has little to do with playing defense (granted there are exceptions). Defense is all about tenacity, desire, and hard work. I have played with/seen many players who were "overmatched" physically and more than held there own on the defensive end. This HAS to be instilled in our players if our ultimate goal is a championship. I want to see grit and desire out of our guys, and it just doesn't seem to be there yet. Hopefully we see it this upcoming season.

Agree. Although as you have mentioned in previous posts, I really don't see Swanigan being able to play the 4. He's a 6'7ish plodder who would get destroyed by other B10 4s. He is best suited for the center position and at his height it just isn't very doable. I'm really not scared at all by this signing and I'm willing to bet purdue finishes lower this year than last with the strength of the conference.

it doesn't really matter. He's by all accounts a great kid on and off the court that could provide some sorely lacking leadership. He won't be a stud by any means, but he would provide some depth in the post. Scholly is a moot point as well (which I know you didn't talk about in your post, but felt it was important to add). I dont know why anyone would have a problem with this
