  4. And this: For years, IU has tried and failed to get a military flyover for a game at Memorial Stadium. It’s an expensive undertaking for the government — dispatching jets and fighter pilots, and providing the jet fuel — and it is one buried beneath multiple levels of red tape. “We’ve tried, but we’ve never gotten past stage one,” says IU senior associate athletic director Jeremy Gray. “As soon as we mentioned Thursday night and College GameDay being here, the request got to the Pentagon, and we got that signature.” The flyover will happen before the game, at the instant Jim Cornelison finishes singing the national anthem. Oh yeah — for this game IU got Cornelison, a 1992 Jacobs School of Music alum whose rendition of the anthem for the Chicago Blackhawks has become a national treasure. Cornelison is so good, and the flyover so fantastic, ESPN has asked IU to move the anthem from its normal spot, 19 minutes before kickoff, to nine minutes before kickoff. That way, ESPN can show the anthem live.
  5. Gameday info: bring signs, sit in sections 31-32. http://iuhoosiers.com/news/2017/8/29/general-details-regarding-espns-college-gameday.aspx ESPN pre-game coverage from the stadium will begin at 4 PM. Corso will be honored on the field between the first and second quarters.
  6. Scout loves him; they have him as the 173rd best player overall in the nation. Interestingly, he does not get tackled before crossing the goal line for the first five minutes of his highlight video: http://www.hudl.com/video/3/4163888/57df519911fa804f184415c2
  7. I'm not really sure what being 21 point underdogs has to do with anything. This is the second lowest spread in the series over the course of the last 10 years or so. We've covered every year the past six years. The last two games in Bloomington came down to the final play and ended 52 to 49 and 34 to 27. We were very much in the game in Columbus last year until late in the fourth quarter. Heck, even in the 2014 game in Columbus with Zander at quarterback and them knowing that we were going to run Tevin every single play, we led in the third quarter. I know we have a stupid long drought against them, but I really wish people would stop acting like we can't match up with them. When's the last time we got blown out in general? By anyone?Seriously. Even against Michigan, we led late in the third quarter in Ann Arbor last year and lost 20 to 10, and the year before in Bloomington we lost in double overtime. Anything can happen in any game, but sometimes I feel like our fans don't really watch a lot of games very closely. Like, I've seen a bunch of predictions saying that Ohio State's going to score 60 points: they have scored 50 or more points against us literally one time since 1984. And that was the game a few years ago that we lost 52 to 49. We've had some truly horrific defenses over past 25 years, and we actually have a pretty damn good defense now, so it seems odd to predict these giant point totals. This is the best team we've had in a long time. I agree with you. I'm very excited to finally see the team play.
  8. He's running Urban Meyer's offense. Ohio State is a damn good football team, but I'm not really sure what exactly it is people think Wilson is going to do or how much control people think he has.
  9. Don't blame you. I unfortunately can't get up there until later in the day so the shuttle works for me.
  10. Stubhub has some. I'm just going to park in the shuttle lot.
  11. Purdue's new locker room looks very nice. Just for reference, I suspect what we get will be similar in terms of an open layout. Work on our new locker room/player lounge will begin next summer once the Hoosier Room is vacated and all that stuff is moved over to the south end zone. Will free up a lot of space for the team.
  12. The new dining area on the second level will simply replace the old Hoosier Room (which will be converted into additional space for the locker room/players lounge). It will be the training table for all 24 sports, and serve as a club for donors on game days. There will be a separate suite next to it and there will be tables and some seating outside in front of the area. The terrace on the roof will also have tables and chairs, along with restrooms and concessions, but that will be open to general ticket holders/families instead of just Varsity Club members. Here is more info on what the new nutrition center will have: https://spark.adobe.com/page/ph5K71uFOqyS9/ As part of the Excellence Academy, the Tobias Nutrition Center will be home to one of the premier nutrition facilities and dining spaces in all of college athletics. The nearly 10,000 square foot space will provide a place to fuel the nearly 650 students who participate in IU's 24 varsity sports. The main dining area will have seating available for 300 people with various table sizes and includes large windows to allow for natural light and magnificent views into Memorial Stadium. Large televisions will be also scattered throughout the area. Lunch and dinner will be served five days a week with a daily breakfast oasis for students. Service will be in a food station concept with stations including Italian, grill, homestyle, subs and wraps, large salad, fruit and soup bar. Menu items will be prepared fresh on site by dining staff at each of these stations. The breakfast oasis will be a morning fueling station for students with a variety of options to start the day. Two large beverage stations will be installed including a water bottle filling station as new electronic menu boards will display what is available each day.
  13. The temporary scoreboard/play clock has been added to the south end zone, along with a new play clock in the north end zone. They are also adding in more turf at the south end of the field until they can add the track surface once the project is done. In addition, you can see that Marching Hundred Hall is coming along nicely.
  14. There will be a lot that will run shuttles to the stadium: http://iuhoosiers.com/sports/2017/8/25/parking.aspx
  15. Indiana University and adidas today unveiled the “Hep’s Rock” Primeknit alternate football uniforms, which will be make their on-field debut on Saturday, September 23 vs. Georgia Southern. Developed in collaboration with Indiana University Athletics, the “Hep’s Rock” alternate uniforms pay homage to team tradition and serve as a tribute to the 10-year anniversary of the passing of former Head Football Coach, Terry Hoeppner. Coach Hoeppner’s legacy includes the creation of a ritual that the Hoosiers still practice today. In 2005, Hoeppner had a limestone boulder that was found in the practice field removed and installed at the north end zone of Memorial Stadium. The boulder was dubbed "The Rock" and prior to the start of each home game, the Hoosiers would touch “The Rock” before running onto the field. Hoeppner died of brain cancer on June 19, 2007, and The Rock (renamed "Hep's Rock" in 2010) now serves as motivation for the team as well as a tribute to Hoeppner's influence on the football program. Inspired by the team’s tradition and to honor to Coach Hoeppner, the new alternate uniforms are centered around a subtle limestone graphic that was designed to replicate the visual aesthetic, texture and color of “Hep’s Rock.” Creating a new signature look for the Hoosiers, the classic crimson jerseys are emblazoned with the Indiana script logo and player numbers that are highlighted with the custom-created limestone pattern to match the limestone pants. The “Hep’s Rock” theme continues with the TECHFIT compression baselayer that features a limestone graphic and is highlighted with the “Indiana” moniker prominently placed on the chest. Additionally, the stone colored adizero 5-Star 5.0 gloves feature a white oversized graphic of the “Indiana” script logo on the palms. To complete the head-to-toe look, the team will wear an anodized crimson helmet with a white interlocked “IU” logo on the sides and white adidas adizero and FREAK cleats with crimson accents. The “Hep’s Rock” Primeknit alternative uniform is at the forefront of design and innovation, providing players the perfect blend of style and technology for elite performance. Made with a cutting-edge, proprietary yarn blend that increases durability and abrasion resistance, Primeknit is the premier compression uniform system, featuring the latest generation of adidas TECHFIT technology. Primeknit helps keep players cool and increases range of motion, giving athletes an unrivaled level of comfort and allowing them to perform at their highest levels. The jersey's padlock system secures tension over the shoulder pads, while the bodymap fit adheres to the player, making it difficult for opponents to grab, hold or tackle. 16. New Hep's Rock alternate uniform will be worn against GA Southern. I believe that is the 10 year Insight Bowl reunion. Look closer at the numbers and the pants:
