I was not a believer at all. Then USPS gave some much-needed perspective, much like you shared, and that helped bring me off the ledge. Now that we’re seeing his recruiting chops some, with that much-needed perspective in hand, I’m beginning to get optimistic again. It seems it’s only up from here.

At this point I would imagine Dolson was in the big donors’ ears vouching for DeVries, saying stuff something along the lines of “I understand the results were unacceptable, but look, this man can coach. I swear to you. You saw how much talent was lacking on the roster, and he still won 9 games in a stacked B1G.” Whatever they’re selling, it’s working. Bring us Sherrell, another big or two, a sharpshooting win and a backup PG.

Maybe I was too critical of DeVries last year. Sure, the team stunk and failed to meet “Indiana” expectations; however, I keep thinking back to how he did somehow win 9 games with the second hardest schedule in B1G play. I’m beginning to give him the benefit of the doubt…

Oh snap… DeVries, if you pull this off, I may be eating a lot of crow this offseason!

Tyme just admitted his optimism meter is at full tilt. What the h-e double hockey sticks is going on? I love it!

If DeVries and staff pull this off, get them to announce just like you described, and then round out the roster with clear upgrades across the board, you could not ask for a better offseason. DeVries still has to get the on-court results, but we will need to acknowledge he can sell a vision.

Some guy who had Mustaf locked to IU 3 days ago posted the same lock for Sherrell an hour ago. We’ll see… Obviously would be massive

Maybe DeVries is selling Sherrell on the 4 with Reibe at the 5? If that’s how the first 5 in the class go, sign me up. Sure there’s contingency plans in place and DeVries will upgrade anyways even if they only get 2-3. He went after it when we needed to see it.

The thing that gets me excited about the 4 confirmed to visit is if we do get all 4, that’s a HR start and now you’re talking competing for top 4-5 in the B1G

That same account said Duke may push hard for Sherrell. We’ll see. Would love to get all 4. He also said to expect commitment news tomorrow. Guess patience is a virtue again.

Could we go 3 for 3? Early indications are it’s a strong possibility and if so, that’s a heck of a start for DDV’s Year 2.

FWIW 2 days ago a new account, @DavidLeeb6, said Burton was waiting for Indiana to pay him $2-3M and then in the replies went to bat against a Houston fan with “sources” saying Houston would get Burton. Lee told the Houston fan “you’ll see soon” that he was duped by Burton’s own brother… Playing out nicely so far. $2.6M would be great if he wants to be in this system

The Enright to Burton upgrade would be astronomical. Get ‘er done!
