Is IU currently reaching out to Brad Stevens through back channels?
bronkonagurski replied to southernindianahoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Brad Stevens may as well be Paul Bunyan at this point. I'm far from convinced that the reality of him taking the reigns of the IU basketball program would live up to the fantasies people have about his coaching acumen and what he would achieve here. -
You know the post-game thread has jumped the shark when people that are in agreement are somehow arguing with each other. Just my observation. Everyone have a great weekend! At least it isn't snowing yet.
-
Which is why I am beyond confused as to this thread turning into a discussion about working the refs, lol.
-
Would he though? How many players did RMK have that were projected as lottery picks and stayed in school? Taking in consideration the differences in eras
-
I've seen Crean talking to the refs plenty of times. No, he doesn't often get a tech. But I can't say he is not working the refs .
-
You are correct, AIA blew us out. I remember watching that game in my dorm room and feeling...lots of bad feels.
-
Technically Josh Smith too. :cheese:

Responding to the bolded...well man, I've lived in the Mande-Eggers generation of IU basketball so I can't quite say the same. lol Stan really does seem out of place on the current roster. Like bench fodder. I would not be surprised to see him transfer.

This team could do great things with more front-court size and depth. I wish we had that. We played hard and competed but just not enough in the tank. Too many turnovers for my liking, that was my main negative takeaway.

Nice win. We made some winning plays down the stretch! -
Could Crean shake things up for the Grand Canyon game?
bronkonagurski replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Okay, find any coach at this level who would seriously start his bench out of lack of respect for the opponent. I suspect you will struggle to find anyone to put on that list . Horrible idea. Sure, let the bench play if it gets out of hand. But not to start a game. Never. -

Harrell makes me laugh. He is so bad ass flexing on those gimme dunks & layups! Future NBDL All-Star. -
IU vs Louisville Post Game Thread
bronkonagurski replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We competed well despite the final score. Turnovers killed us, obviously. This is the kind of game I'd hope this team can learn and grow from. I feel like this group has better chemistry than last season and has no fear. They just have to execute some things a bit better. And I'm not talking about blocking out, lol. Our interior weakness is what it is, but Hanner definitely stepped it up tonight . We are going to lose some battles on the boards, which makes it all the more important to control what we can control such as avoiding unforced turnovers, poor decisions, missed free throws, etc. -

Yeah, blocking out is our problem. Not our lack of size and depth in the frontcourt. lol -

Great win, did not expect that kind of performance. It was fun to watch and very encouraging. -
Nebraska fires 9-3 Coach Bo Pelini
bronkonagurski replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Nebraska fired Frank Solich after a 9 win season to hire another coach that they would eventually fire after a series of 9 win seasons. I think Bo was done in more for having bad PR with Nebraska fans + getting hilariously blown out in signature games. Let's steal some recruits though! :) -
Ugh, no just no. Besides Jimmy Butler on the Bulls already owns that highly questionable tag. :-P I like JB3 myself.

I'll always support IU but man, my optimism tank is really low when it comes to Crean. I hope we do improve and step it up in December and beyond, but I'm extremely skeptical. It would be different if I strongly felt like we are building towards a better future with our roster but this is two years in a row with a poorly constructed roster. When is the next time we will put a balanced team on the court in terms of both talent and experience???

The State of our program- How do you guys feel about it?
bronkonagurski replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'll admit I don't closely follow the non-revenue sports as a whole, although I certainly did tune in to watch the baseball team the last couple of years and whenever the men's soccer team is in the Final Four, I watch those games as well. So having said that, I was under the impression our non-revenue sports have been doing quite well since Glass took over. As far as the men's basketball and football programs go, yes I'm disappointed in both programs right now. Which is nothing new when it comes to the football team. But I have a lot of passion for IU footbal and kills me that we can't get better and at least go to some bowls here and there. I'm not asking for the moon and the stars here. Just win more than you lose most of the time and get us into some postseason bowls. Basketball...outside of Cody's two years with the program, which I did thoroughly enjoy even if it didn't end right, man...it is rough . I don't feel confident that CTC really has the answers in the long-term that will get us the results we want to see. -
Oh great Robert Parrish is an IU fan now? That guy was known as The Chief and it certainly wasn't tobacco in his peace pipe! ;)
