I don't know anything about your background or upbringing, but you have to put yourself in their shoes. Education isn't stressed by parents, schools aren't as good. Kids slip through the cracks. As much as people want to blame the kid, it's not always the kids fault in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
I understand. Part of the blame can probably be put on the system too. But you hear about so many success stories coming from less than ideal circumstances that it's hard to imagine that someone can't do it. Especially if they have a free, tens of thousands of dollars education sitting in front of them. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

It blows my mind how people can't qualify academically. It's high school. Especially with these guys knowing what they have riding on such a simple lifestyle. IU is harder to get into than some places, yes, but you can't maintain mostly B's through high school? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
The first time I saw that, I caught the tail end of the play and thought it was Cody stuffing Monroe. I should have just left it at that... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Question is, do the donors even give a crap about the other sports, or is it all, "we're a (mens) basketball school"? I'm not sure how many would care.
Haha I think most of the donors are donating to get those padded courtside seats. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
I completely agree. I don't think there is anything to worry about though. We are not going to fire Crean a year after our first outright conference title in two decades and being ranked number 1 for most of the season. I also doubt that the university would allow donors to dictate terms at this point, especially in regard to Glass. Now, if next season doesn't get a lot better, things might change on either the donors' part or the school's. But, that's getting ahead of ourselves a bit.
Agreed. Firing him this year would be a little irrational. Not because he "brought us back", most people are over that, but because no one is giving him a chance with this team. See if he can develop the talent that is there. Even if Noah leaves, I see him picking up someone to soften that blow. If we hover around or below .500 next year, let's consider then.
His buyout after this season is supposedly $14 million. There is some debate about that. On another site, someone posted that he was told by someone in the know that the money from the big donors is there to buy out Crean, but only under the condition that Glass goes too and that the next coach has to be an Indiana guy. I can't emphasize enough: that is a rumor and completely unsubstantiated. It kind of has a ring of truth to it as far as what kind of conditions the money would come with, but it could be BS.
That sucks because Glass isn't the problem. He is a good AD from what I can tell. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

The fact that Crean is saying that this team "has to come together" is frightening. That sounds to me like a broken locker room. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
The more I pay attention to him (and I can't stand the sleaze ball), the more I think he's actually a pretty good coach (ughh). His track record was definitely superior to Crean's when he got the UK job.
Exactly how I feel. Can't stand the guy. Not sure how it is that he recruits so well, but he gets results with guys that don't always mesh very well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Be hypothetical with me for a quick second. What does this board, and the overall outlook on IU basketball look like if Jordan Morgan's tip goes in? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Personally, I've never been a fan of Crean. I honestly didn't like the hire when we made it and he was our 3rd/ 4th option from what I've been told. He had Dwayne Wade, Got his Final Four and that pretty much sums him up.
Who were the first couple options? Just out of curiosity. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Cubs fan. I don't care about baseball nearly as much as football or basketball, so I'm not as torn up about how bad they always are as some. They really do seem to be looking up with Epstein though, that guy is amazing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
LOL, I honestly think he would have gone something like: 40+ppg 25+ Reb 15+ blocks All while shooting 80% from the field.
Easily. A good big man around here goes 6'6 and that's just if the school is lucky enough to have a kid that tall period. When he was here TH South was in the MIC conference, so they played some decent competition in Indy, but that was more of a football power conference (Carmel, Warren Central, Ben Davis).
