  1. I think Aloha was being sarcastic.
  2. So you are going to say to watch out for people who take an aggressive approach to his first post, then turn around and call them mentally challenged? You are the last person to criticize anyone when that is your response.   These types of post are the reason some boards are completely unbearable. One side has no problem calling out the other side for some of the things they say. But they have no problem doing the exact same thing themselves, both extremes are equally wrong.
  3. The zone is about 10 times more complicated to beat than a lot of fans make it out to be. It doesn't help that they are playing against guys of mostly the same skill level who are running a zone that is itself is difficult to beat. But of course since the ideas of how to beat a zone seem simple a lot of fans think it should be easy to execute, which it isn't.    Also can we stop with the statements like "anyone who disagrees go do (insert any number of statements that implies they aren't watching enough of something)".
  4. I agree, about the media. And of course I am biased towards Vic. I'll add in that the media will play up the story of the 76ers actively tanking to make out MCW's drop in efficiency.    I sound kind of paranoid when I drink, never noticed that before.
  5. I know it is a bit off topic. But, Vic for ROY this year. MCW has better numbers, but when adjusting for pace they are about even, and Vic is doing it more efficiently. And Vic is doing it while playing better defense.
  6. Same here. Don't really care for how he talks to people who call into his show either, so just one more reason I stopped listening.
  7. Eh, I'd argue his career is more of getting people to listen to him. A lot of his job is saying something shocking to get people to listen to his show because they want to hear the next thing coming out of his mouth. He probably speaks his mind more often than not, but he will say some outlandish things as well. Saying outlandish things in his job gets more people listening to you, which is the number 1 goal.
  8. I wish they would.could of. Would have given him his second of the year, which is near the tops in the league. And has to be close to rookie record
  9. Huge night for Vic, 30 points on 11-23 shooting, 14 assists to just 3 turnovers, and 9 rebounds in the double OT win against the Knicks
  10. Wait, thinks he is bigger than the program? What?
  11. Completely agree with that line.    And yeah that is what scares the heck out of me with Alford. I think the boosters would get behind him, and that should play a role. But, uh, I just don't see it working out at all if he were ever hired here
  12. Uh, that line just frustrates me. I guess I wouldn't be too upset with Crews or maybe Chaney getting the job. But the only guy who has that Indiana tie that I would be happy about would be Dane Fife. To me it seems like a number of people want Alford, and I really just don't see that working out at all, I think that is just asking for everything to go wrong. I haven't ever been impressed by Steve as a coach, and I just don't think it would work out
  13. My thing is the program being in "disarray" might only be seen by us. The kids who are looking at schools and being highly recruited might not be looking at it that way. Fans of programs generally seem to overstate how bad things actually are, though I am definitely not ecstatic about how things are going right now
  14. Also, find it kind of funny that people keep talking about kids jumping ship and decommitting, or transferring away if Crean stays on coach. Then suggest firing Crean, because firing the guy that they committed to come and play for, or are already playing for is going to encourage them to stay here.
  15. I keep seeing this all over the place on IU forums. Do any of you guys have inside info about this, or are you just speculating based on your own beliefs? I get that winning plays into these guys decisions, but you guys are acting like it is the only actual reason a kid chooses to go to a school. There are a ton of reasons kids go to a school, if winning was the only actual reason a kid went to a school then Boehim, coach K, Izzo would be getting nothing but top 20 recruits every year. There are many factors that determine whether a kid goes to a specific school
  16. I agree for the most part. I do think you can only have a 100% understanding of the sport if you've played. But I think fans who have never played the game at a high level still do have the ability to understand the smaller parts and more complex aspects of the game.    Off base, but I just have issues with the original post I quoted because it comes off as saying we should all just be cheerleaders who don't question anything. Instead we should just accept everything going on, and act like everything is just hunky dory. That destroys the point of message boards, which is to discuss the game/s and program
  17. I really can't stand the argument that you have to coach/play the game to understand the game. And that if you don't do either you don't/can't have a good grip on everything going on. Also, you are far off in saying people who are being critical of the program aren't supporting the program. There are some who aren't but the majority who are being critical are still supporting the program.
  18. I think we would have had to keep the 10 point lead that we had going into the final segment of the game. If we had blown the lead and held on, a good amount of fans would still be upset. Maybe not at the levels we are seeing now though.
  19. I haven't seen anything in the lines of growth with this team to indicate that next year is going to be much better. They still turn the ball over at an alarming rate, could argue they are worse at this now than what we saw at the outset of the season. The half-court offense is absolutely putrid on a nightly basis, some of this is philosophy by Crean and what he is teaching them. The other half comes from the players, and their lack of development has hurt. The defense has improved so there is that. Even if Noah comes back I don't see how things are just going to magically turn the corner, there haven't been many signs, or really any consistent signs, that this roster has shown growth to say they will be significantly better next season.
  20. I could be completely wrong. But, Tony Bennett was a name that was tossed around a lot.
  21. So with our new defensive coordinator running a 3-4 scheme, which we obviously haven't run, did we jump in late in the recruiting process to any other recruits? Or on the defensive side was it pretty much the same guys we have been recruiting.
  22. Braves
  23. Eric went off last night in a losing effort. 35 points on 11-17 shooting, and 6 assists.    Been watching his last few games, he is probably playing close to the best he has ever played in the NBA in this stretch. Hopefully he can keep up this quality play.
  24. We didn't beat ND or Illinois. Who cares what the post would be if we had beat them.   People are having issues because this team still doesn't look very good on the court for anything but a 3-4 minute stretch here and there. We said at the beginning of the year to give them time to figure it out and get better. Well we are now halfway through the season and there hasn't been a ton of signs of significant improvement. Most are saying they are willing to give him until the end of next season, with what we believe we are going to have. But still even with returning players including Noah and incoming players, saying they will be a top 10 caliber team seems like a bit of a stretch given what we have seen this year
  25. Not yet. And don't want to be the "give him one more year guy", but think you give him next year's team. Hopefully with development from returning players, and if they are as good as what some of us think they can be then great. If he underachieves then I would not be completely opposed to looking elsewhere for the future of the program. I do like Crean, but recent play has just been so ugly to watch
