Hey fellow Hoosiers! This is my first time creating a new topic so I'm a little nervous but hopefully this will go well. I know it's a few weeks late but I'm a full-time college student/full-time worker/full-time boyfriend so I'm a little busy. Story time: while working at a well-known golf store in Indy (which is way better than Golfsmith) during the summer, I happened to run across a certain Indiana University legend, Mr. Don Fischer. I had a quick chat with him about how I'm a huge IU fan, what's going on with Assembly Hall, how his golf game was doing, and why Jeremy Hollowell was so awful (jk, but I wish). As I completed checking him out at the register, I had a great idea. I asked him if it was possible to sit with him during a game to watch and study how he broadcasts and what all goes on during a game. He said the football game against Ball State on September 10th would be the best and he gave me his email. Two months later, I sent him an email reminding him and he remembered me and had me give him my phone number to call me to set up the details. September 10th comes along and I get to Memorial Stadium by 2:00pm like he wanted me to. I went over to the old elevators on the west side and my media pass was there waiting for me. I go up in the elevator, take a few steps out and to the left and there he is. He remembered me and we talked for a little bit while I asked him some questions about his career and I go to sit down in the IU radio booth. There, I see his partners Joe Smith, Buck Suhr (Errek Suhr's dad, anybody remember him??), and Terry Hutchens. I talked to all three for awhile until 3:00pm when the pregame show started. Long story short, I got to wear a headset, watch the IU football game as I'm watching and listening to Don Fischer and everyone call the game and help with stats and I even got to stay for the postgame show and I walked with him to his car! 'Twas one of the best days of my life and definitely makes me want to call games for IU!
