  1. Lunardi moved us out of the last four in...officially the last team in the last four byes. We did it, everybody!
  2. This will be an issue across the board today and going forward both coaches and players. It should be quite funny at times. This may have been subconscious last night b/c I knew we'd be watching games with no crowds today, but I felt like they had the mics around the court turned up and I could hear the shoes squeaking more. Maybe they were transitioning? But I can see by the end of the weekend that TV broadcasts somehow loop in some moderate crowd noise, or the arenas start going the NBA route with music and other things being piped in to drown out language.
  3. Ultimately, I agree. I just still won't feel safe b/c I don't think it improves our position, and b/c of all the other things that could happen to negatively impact our position. Our position is already in the range of teams that could get left out.
  4. I really hate looking at the big picture right now. Let's say a couple bids are stolen this week. It's not a definite to say whoever steals those bids knocks us down, but I assume it will. So that would leave maybe 4 teams below us per bracket matrix. There is always a team or two who gets in that were not projected to according to bracket matrix. In this case that would come from the UCLA/Texas/NC State crowd. That may knock it down to 3 teams below us. We probably have an opportunity to have the worst loss of who is left toward the bottom. Losing to Nebraska would move some other teams ahead of us and all of a sudden we are right at the cut line or below, again, according to bracket matrix. Beating Nebraska won't improve our position. Now, all of this assumes others above us don't collapse in some way, and those below us do what they need to do, none of which is certain. But, I'm not feeling safe at all. Beat Nebraska and I still won't feel safe. Beat Penn State and I will.
  5. Do you know if this list is in no particular order? Or is it listed starting with the most similar of the similar resumes. Its interesting to see 2 teams from last year represented here. One who was selected and one who was not.
  6. I got curious what is the highest projected seed on the bracket matrix to be left out of the field. I only had to go back to 2018 to find USC was projected as a 10 seed on bracket matrix and was not selected. I believe they were 23-11, 12-6 in conference, though the Pac12 was awful that year. They ended the season 51 in KenPom. I don't know of a way to compare that resume to ours this year considering the NET and quad system has only been in place since last season (I think?). They were also projected in 173 of 187 brackets. I didn't go back many more years that that, but I didn't see any other teams projected higher than an 11 that got left out. Hopefully we get a couple more wins this week and make this irrelevant. But in case anyone else was wondering if its ever happened before that a projected 10 seed on the bracket matrix has been left out....it has.
  7. Penn St. will be a quad 2 win tomorrow. We still have enough combined quad 1 and 2 wins to make a great case, and nearly all of them will be Q1a and Q2a, but we starterd this week with 6 quad 1 wins and will go into the BTT with 4. That scenario I pointed out of being 19-12, 9-11 with 4 quad 1 wins and a bad season ending loss to Nebraska is very real. We better not let that happen Wednesday.
  8. And inch them ever closer to an additional quad 1 win for us? Probably need to make noise in the ACC tournament still to move solidly into the top 50, but its still possible.
  9. Good point. Another quick scan of the NET rankings.....does any bubble team have a road win against UCLA or a home win against St. Mary's? Looks like those would have flipped to quad 1 wins now.
  10. The hits keep coming from Purdue winning last night. They may now play their way in, they virtually guarantee we have to play on Wednesday in the BTT, that adds an chance at a bad loss to our schedule, and Iowa moved down to 35 in the NET so we lost a quad 1 win. All in that one game. And Iowa finishes on the road at Illinois. Penn St. also fell to 30 so we barely hang on to another quad 1 win. If they choke at NW, that one goes away too. We won't do ourselves any favors at all by just winning one now, especially if that one is Minnesota. If we are 19-13 with 4 quad 1 wins and a season ending loss to Nebraska......yikes. I am (N)ot (I)n (T)o that!
  11. I strongly prefer the scenario that we just win 2 and not worry about anyone else. Or actually why not 3 or 4. How nice would it be to be on here have silly arguments on selection sunday about what region would be best? Although I still believe 1 of the next 2 will do it. Especially if that one is Wisconsin. Though I would absolutely dread the scenario of going into that last game of the season feeling like its an absolute must win. I'll actually be at the Wisconsin game. I don't think I'd actually enjoy it at all in that case. We'd do ourselves (collectively, the team, fanbase, this board) a huge favor by coming out and winning by 30 tomorrow.
  12. There's not a maximum number of teams per conference. Purdue is like a next four out team right now, Rutgers, I believe, is hovering somewhere right above the last 4 in. If both of them move up in some say (i.e. Purdue in and Rutgers farther in), there are plenty of teams they bump down not named Indiana. And if we win the next 2, tonight's results don't matter at all. We'll be talking about nothing but seeding on Selection Sunday.
  13. You’re reading a little too far in to the comment about scouting. It was in response to lip reading their exchange in the video. Not how we played overall or anyone’s quality of coaching.
  14. I watched it about 20 times. You’re lip reading. You can’t definitely say what is coming out of his mouth. Definitely could have been ripping something Rob. Could have said Wrong something something. I watched this video right after reading whichever thread was talking about how terrible Rob is and how he’ll never be anything but average. All I’m definitely saying here as that he Archie didn’t say Rob Phinisee sucks. Based on Flints reaction, he could have just as easily been ripping something Flint implemented.
  15. My understanding is one of the assistants leads the scout/game plan for each game. Maybe that’s only for non-conference games, I don’t really know. I said that based on Flint’s reaction in the video. He seemed to be defending whatever Archie was ripping apart. Maybe it was just one thing Flint was trying to get the team to do.
  16. I just simply can’t believe there is a single chance in hell he sat down on the bench and said Rob Phinisee sucks, essentially yelling it for other players on the bench to hear. No offense. I know there is a group of folks on this board who would love for those to be the words that came out of his mouth simply because we lost. It would fuel the fire for their deep hatred of both our coach and starting PG! Not saying you, again, no offense. My first thought here is did Bruiser have the scout for this game? Seems Archie isn’t happy with something Bruiser implemented and Bruiser is trying to defend it. I’d guess something like this has happened many times this season when the cameras weren’t fixated on the bench.
  17. Nah. Momentum killer? Yeah kind of. But we just need to move the hell on. We’re still in good shape. Work to do still, sure. But this definitely doesn’t just erase all the optimism.
  18. Throw away the film, maybe have a ceremonial burning. Turn the page, move on, get back to work tomorrow.
  19. Maybe ND stayed where they are b/c it was only a quad 3 win? Though another funny part of that is by looking this up I saw that BC actually move UP 6 spots after that home loss. Hah! I've been keeping an eye on ND. That loss at UVA was a bummer. But if they win out, it would include a win over FSU. I'm confident FSU will safely remain a quad 1a win for us. But it may give ND a chance to jump in to the top 50, giving us another quad 1 win. This may be important since both Penn St. and Iowa are teetering on the edge of becoming quad 2 wins instead of quad 1. Still so much to play out.
  20. Ultimately I don’t think conference tournaments hurt you but they can help. Case in point right here. Say we do end up 20-11 / 10-10. That would be a combined 10 quad 1 and 2 wins. Lose our first game in the BTT and our seed line probably doesn’t change. Make some noise and win, say, 2 games? Now we are talking 12 quad 1/2 wins and who knows....a 6 seed? oh geez what am I doing to myself the day before a road game against Purdoo....
  21. I still think we’d be in. The worst thing about your scenario here is that our resume would now include one single bad loss. But with one more win we’d have a combined 9 quad 1 and 2 wins. The resume is still strong enough. But I totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve also become a “fear and expect the worst” IU fan over time.
  22. Seems like Rutgers is in real trouble, no? A real chance of closing the season on a 5 game losing streak and losing 8 of 10.
  23. I do the same thing. I already have myself convinced that I should expect a game very similar to Purdue playing Iowa a few weeks back. They will hit 38 three pointers, most from near half court. That's just the first half...... Anyway. In all seriousness I don't like how this game lines up at all. We've got some great momentum, sure. But Purdoo's season is on life support and I have not been able to shake the notion that they have taken this rivalry game more seriously that us over the past several years. They desperately need a win and we kind of don't. I don't like how it lines up at all. My bigger fear though is, if we do indeed get run out of the gym, what is our ability to regroup and say, hey we're still in good shape, let's turn the page and move on b/c we still have every opportunity to end this season strong.
