  3. JS? Do I look like a unhung hero? Shame on you.
  4. Thanks for starting this and for keeping it updated. Your efforts are much appreciated! :thankyou:
  5. Ask you all to pray for a cousin of mine and her family at this time. Today was her 16th anniversary and she got up at 4:30 this morning to tell her husband happy anniversary. She found him dead of a self inflicted gunshot wound in the shed. Needless to say she is barely able to hold it together right now. Two kids without a father now. Please pray for them and for the families who are grieving and searching for answers right now.
  6. Considering the timing, its almost like he read your post and tweeted the answer!

  8. Word is that he will have a hard time qualifying academically. Would be a big get, but don't hold your breath. And welcome to Btown Banners!
  9. Comedic deflection. Interesting tactic. And maybe the best way he can deal with some of this at this time.
  10. Newton played for Davis then? I'm getting old. Was it Newton that got arrested on the pot charge? I was positive that it was a RMK player.
  11. The one that pops to mind is Jeffrey Newton, Scott County, IN, marijuana.
  12. Question is, do the donors even give a crap about the other sports, or is it all, "we're a (mens) basketball school"? I'm not sure how many would care.
  13. Hell, Todd Leary played there too, lets hire him! Oh, wait....
  14. Yea, Alford has a way to go before I would think him the right guy, plus its 10.4 million to buy out his UCLA contract. Crews wasn't even going to take the St. Louis job for a while because he didn't want all the road time recruiting. Cheaney has never been a head coach, and has done very little coaching at all. Fife needs more seasoning before he's ready to be a head coach at a IU class school. I couldn't name one former IU player I would want in the job right now.
  15. I find nothing on them either. However, the numbers in the article seem to be exact to what I read in the contract, so I believe that info to be correct. Any further than that I don't know. Will search a bit more.
  16. Nobody questioned that RMK was a disciplinarian, but he had players get arrested. It might not be right to excuse it because they are "just kids", but it is a big reality of that age group, and often older ones.
  17. I wouldn't be willing to accept that if hiring a "Indiana" guy is a requirement. I would hope we would make the best hire we could.
  18. Its not a inner circle thing, CTC is a state employee and his contract is a matter of public record. I can't find a link online, but I have seen it before. Here is a link that tells the pertinent details:  http://latenighthoops.com/crean-buyout/#.UwEQUmJdVA0
  19. And there is no doubt on that. I don't like how this season has went. I don't think CTC is the right long-term coach for IU. BUT, I don't expect this year to get him fired. I expect that as this team moves into next year, fans are going to see a lot of improvement, and I would not be surprised to see IU as a B1G conference contender next year. If we reach that point, there are many fans who are questioning now, who will be happy to keep him as a coach. There are two groups questioning CTC's future at IU at this point:   A: Those who have looked at the body of his work, see schematic and systematic problems with his coaching. They see him, generally, as a good coach, but not as a top level coach that can hang another banner. They see continually unaddressed flaws in his coaching. This group is less vocal during the good years, but their opinions are not really swayed by the successes.    B: This group may have some of the above, but they are largely moving in a different direction based on the last year. They are less ideological, and when IU shows improvement, they will be less inclined to change coaches.    Its a microcosm of any dissent movement in any area of human endeavor.
  20. We don't have anybody who could decommit at the moment, because we have no commits. Transfers will happen, regardless of who the coach is. The logic of fans is often far from reasonable.
  21. I think it would be up to the individual recruit. Truth is, if that logic were really true, no one would ever be able to rebuild a team. Personally, I think that way of thinking is a somewhat emotional over-reaction. CTC has done some pretty fine recruiting for a school that was pretty near death penalty. CKW has done some pretty good recruiting for a perennial doorstop. Recruits see the Sweet 16's, Final Fours, lottery picks, etc., a whole lot more than they see one years failure. Will it make a difference with any one recruit? Very possibly. But the snow we've had this year may have the same effect on some.
  22. Just a note, CTC's buyout is 12 million dollars and that is if he's let go after July 1st. So all of you jumping on that train better pony up.
  23. I would have to point out JS, that the Final 4 comparison isn't a good one either. Davis took a RMK team to the Final 4, CTC took a team just a few years out of near death penalty conditions there. Furthermore, Mike Davis started his head coaching career basically at the top, and has went consistently downward. CTC has at least a upward trend from rebuilding a Marquette program, to rebuilding a IU program. He has led neither to the top, and year to year success is not consistent, but I have to admit that he seems to have more going for him in coaching ability than MD did.
  24. 10-4, I missed that.
