maxwell got a reaction from Stuhoo in Noah Vonleh: IU freshman keeps....
    focus on improving.

Here is a nice article that includes quotes from Kenny Johnson and Will Sheehey.  This article is a  good summarization of the work Noah is putting in.

    Full Story

"I just want to be great,” he said. “I just want to keep getting better and take my game to new levels.”
That’s why the 6-foot-10 forward put on more than 20 pounds when he got to Bloomington and now, at 240 pounds, is challenging point guard Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell in sprints."

“He’s like what you’d want a basketball player to look like if you were to create a player on your NBA game or whatever video game,” Sheehey said. “His motor is different. The kid plays hard. He’s patient. He doesn’t care about shots, touches, scoring, you know, and that’s what you want. A lot of guys that are as highly recruited as him would come in and think the complete opposite, and so it’s nice that he plays that hard.”

It will be an absolute pleasure to see Noah play great ball this season.

maxwell reacted to ccgeneral in Louisville’s Behanan Suspended Indefinitely/ er short time now
Chane Behanan was suspended indefinitely last Thursday by the University of Louisville for violation of University policy. Within days, the junior forward had repeated the violation, which caused head coach Rick Pitino to say Behanan could still earn his way back, though it was not probable.

On Monday afternoon, Behanan seemed to have a different point of view than his Hall of Fame coach, according to WDRB’s Bozich and Crawford. The 6-foot-6 forward told Rick Bozich and Eric Crawford that he was “positive” he could work earn his way back to the team, and that he had been “working hard” to get his spot back on the roster.

“I was never concerned about Chane the basketball player,” Pitino said during a press conference on Thursday. “He is extremely respectful. He’s a good guy. He’s a good teammate, and he’s an excellent basketball player. He just has a very difficult time understanding life’s values and significance of life’s values, and we’re going to try to help him along.

Behanan wandered into a Starbucks in the Highlands where Bozich and Crawford were working on Monday afternoon, wearing a pair of jeans and a Cincinnati Reds T-shirt.

He said he watched Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage on television, and that he plans to begin reading Pitino’s new book, “The One-Day Contract” on Tuesday.

Bozich said, “I just saw you at media day a few days earlier and things looked good.”
    Behanan replied, “Things happen.”

“We’re more interested in Chane the man than we are right now the basketball player. We want to see him prosper as a person as much as he has been prospering as a basketball player.”

Behanan averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the national champions this past season. In his absence, Wayne Blackshear and Stephen Van Treese will take on larger roles on the frontline, as will Montrezl Harrell, who is being projected as one of the breakout stars in college basketball this season. Akoy Agau also joins the program as a four-star recruit according to Rivals.

At the earliest, Behanan could return by mid-December.

He seems pretty optimistic, and doesn't seem to be selling too much to be that way.  IMO.  I was curious to see if he would sell us on the season, and he really didn't.  He must be optimistic in the freshman.  This dudes mind runs a mile a minute.  Its kind of funny listening to him talk.  Its like he has ADD on his own thoughts of basketball.  I am officially ready for the season now.

Hey, you are fine.  Trust me, I didn't always pay this much attention, but the knowledge of this fanbase is amazing.  I have learned far more than I could have ever hoped just by talking to everyone.  We hope to bring that thought process here.  As for the practices, in the past many have stated how hard Crean pushes his players in practice.  Last year he tried something different.  He cut back on practice on how he pushed them around the first of February.  He commented about how he was going to do that with such a veteran squad.  Many felt that backfired because he took them out of their routine.  From that point on Jordy/Yogi/Wat seemed to have struggled more.  Yogi's might have been from just being tired, and not used to that type of a season.  The other two were seniors.  Usually Seniors flourish at that point in their Senior year.  Unfortunately for us that didn't happen.  I remember we beat UM on the road after, so there is nothing anyone can point to for sure.  I guess that is my long winded response in hoping with such a young squad we make and keep a routine.  I think then, we can have the environment you and I both hope they have.  That will only make us better by the end of the year.  We know they are going hard up to this point due to the nagging variety of freshman injuries 4 of them have had on and off since they got here.

Absolutely.  That was my only surprise about last year.  I thought with the high level Vic and Cody brought, along with Jordy and CWat improving their games others would improve.  I think Will did and Yogi had subtle improvements from high school, but beyond that there was none.  Don't know if they demolished everyone on a daily basis where literally nobody improved, but it hurt us in the end.  We need everyone on this team to compete and raise their game.  If we do that, we will be alright.  IMO

I agree with you.  I hope by December we have made serious strides toward consistently having strong opposition during our team practices.  I would love to have video of their current practices.  They are probably working each other over at a high level already:)

Glockner put Indiana at 16 in his preseason top 25, and new IndyStar IUBB insider asked him why. Some interesting questions and answers.

I have to agree with the comments I changed to red. No question last year's team was overrated, while this year's may be a bit underrated. I think we're a bit weary of freshmen this year because of how awful 3/4 of the freshmen were last year.

Osterman asked about his impressions of Sheehey and Yogi at the World University Games, and had this to say about Sheehey, "I think Sheehey will take a big step forward. He's the type of guy that looks like he'll translate from being a complementary player to being a leading guy."

He mentioned that Yogi's "obviously, going to have to play better, more consistent...as a sophomore, you expect him to take that leap."

That's a valid argument. I think a sweet 16 run for that group was more likely than this group given how much experience we returned and added Zeller. That being said, If we could make 3 straight Sweet 16s I'd call that a MAJOR success this season. If that happens, next year could get ugly if we don't make it past the Sweet 16.
Sweet 16 is a GREAT goal for this group. Maybe the magic will happen and this team will get it together late in the season as opposed to early in the season like the last group.
