I think it’s important to note that when people post things they “hear” from insiders it generally is what they hear. The stuff I heard and shared is what happened. Indiana went full court press on Stevens. Something we all wanted Indiana to do. Steven’s got a nice big raise from it. If it’s the end, we move on and can finally close the Brad Stevens chapter at Indiana as if it doesn’t happen now, it never will. all that being said, if my current employer asks me about my position with the company as I’m entertaining and listening to another company my answer is pretty damn similar to his. The needs were supposedly met for Stevens to come, he chose otherwise. If it’s over I’m happy it played out this way, so we know we threw everything at him and weren’t being cheap.

Sooo.... this Purdue game announcement is gaining more steam. My sister is at an event in downtown Indy and was talking with Anthony Calhoun who said an announcement is coming during Purdue game. No clue how he’d know but that’s the second I’ve seen that in the last 3 hours. Believe other text more than this one but.... Update: I sent a couple texts out to people I trust to see if they will confirm or deny this. Interesting it’s come from two very different places. Just posting in case it happens you guys can witness it live lol.

I’ll say this. Over the last 10+ years running this site and working with Indiana and especially when Hutchens came on board I’ve met some very connected people. I don’t reach out to them much and occasionally they’ll reach out to me. I’ve heard rumblings of this for a bit. Stevens is the only choice at this point, Indiana was prepared to make whatever offer needed he couldn’t refuse. Haven’t heard anything is done, but have heard confidence from IU side as they presented everything he needed to see. So unless a major change of heart... I’m optimistic. I still won’t believe anything until I see the press conference. don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just relaying the tidbits I’ve gotten which aren’t groundbreaking.

Have to wonder about the increase to 20 games for the Big Ten and how that affects Bubble teams. Indiana replaces two B1G games with two easier opponents, we potentially jump from 17-14 to 19-12 and in the dance. I havent really seen this discussed at all, but that’s a major factor.

Love all our seniors, but this guy gave his all for the Hoosiers and is the definition of the player we want here. Busted his ass for 4 years, never gave up. Statistics don’t lie, his Indiana career is up there with the greats of Indiana Basketball lore. Thank you JMo!!

I want Romeo and Juwan to get to the dance. NIT run would be good for the team, but I want those two in the tournament. They’ve busted their ass this year. Juwan deserves a chance to play in the tournament before he’s gone.

Man what a difference a week and a half makes. To think if the Iowa shots don’t fall or the Purdue tip in doesn’t happen this team is in the tournament already. Crazy crazy year. For the first time in FOREVER, Indiana is playing their best basketball at the end of the season. THAT is the recipe for success. Love it.
