I haven't been one to say "Here's my ordered list of preferred coaches" and so I haven't shared who I prefer or don't. But, I think the biggest danger to IUBB is apathy. The memories of success get further in the past each year. Brad Brownell might be the only coach mentioned who would actually *increase* the level of fan apathy. I'm guess I could talk myself into it eventually but man, that's tough to get excited about.

Another way to look at the timeline: if we don't make the tournament and there's no announcement on Monday, it ain't Brad I'll add this: if there's no handshake deal with a coach by now, it's malpractice. Scott has had 5 weeks officially for this search (really a year) and portal backchanneling has been happening for months already. Whoever the next coach is will need to have been aware of the job they're stepping into and started evaluating the roster and potential additions.

I hear you. But I'm a total sucker. I'm one of those who holds out hope even in the face of all known fact. Plus, I'll take every opportunity I have left to watch Anthony Leal irritate opposing offenses.

If we don't make the tournament, we'll probably know who the next coach is by this Monday ONLY if they're not coaching in the tournament. If they are, then no announcement tor legit leaks until the new coach's current team is eliminated. Not an insider at all. But, this is how these things always play out.

Depends on the number of bid thieves. If there's 2 or more, we're probably cooked.

No announcement or legit leaks will happen until IU's out of the tournament (assuming they get a spot in Dayton), which means Thursday at the absolute earliest. And that's only if the new coach isn't still coaching in the tournament. If IU wins in Dayton, then they'll play Thursday or Friday. If they win the first round game (unlikely), they'll play Saturday or Sunday. We'll know who the next coach is by Monday unless their team is in the sweet 16.

I really like the sound of that last part.

FYI, Ant Wright just s*** all over the Hysterics on the Assembly Call show. It was beautiful.

I've read that the top two non-tourney B1G teams are obligated to compete in the Crown, but I can't imagine that would still be the case with a coaching change. Players have to allowed to enter the portal and as someone noted, the Crown starts SUPER late...March 31. I still think we end up in Dayton FWIW.

Good god I’m right there with you brother. I was a student for Davis’s last year, Sampson’s mess, and Crean’s first year. 4 head coaches (including Dakich) in 4 years. Ugly stuff. I just want the hurt to stop.
