His buyout was $12m on his original contract but he was extended last year and I can't find any mention of the buyout on the new/revised contract. Possible it's still $12m and possible it was lowered, I suppose. Please correct me if anyone finds any other info.

Iowa basketball has to compete with Iowa women's basketball for NIL too. Not just football.

He got busted giving bags to recruits before NIL was legal. He was doing what most schools were doing but he got caught and suspended. Then got fired after more details came out. His lack of contrition didn't help either. I just don't think there's any way Dolson hires Wade. Most of us are old enough to clearly remember Sampson. I was at his hiring press conference and a student for his 1.5 seasons. Everybody says what he did is legal now and that's true. But, so much of the blame fell on the IU administration because Sampson had been caught before at Oklahoma and IU still hired him. Dolson's been at IU in one form or another for nearly 40 years. I just don't see him taking the risk of hiring a prior offender, even if it's "legal now".

He doesn't need 5 stars to win and likely would do better without. The expectations aren't as high as other jobs like IU. It would be a really good hire for them. And good for the league.
