  1. There is a little more to the story including improper texting and the reports that led to Perea’s suspension over the laptop. Regardless, it’s about program integrity and it begins and ends with the head coach.
  2. That was a bad stain. I believe in second chances, but I am concerned that it showed the true colors of his character.
  3. Would I like leaks to stop? Depends…
  4. Sorry if I missed it, but did you ever reveal who the was the subject the chatter going around Bloomington? If you can’t, no worries. Just curious.
  5. I personally miss the realtor talk from last night. I’m not proud of it.
  6. I haven’t been here long, but I haven’t seen much of a reason for the “self-important” shot at posters. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  7. I can get on board with the Simmons disdain. But I’m old enough that Larry Bird’s presence on the Celtics always gave Boston an Indiana connection.
  8. I just saw this and hadn’t heard anything about it until this advertisement. Any chance this could be a factor in any Brad decisions?
  9. I was promised that trade would not be discussed on this board.
  10. Ok. Kalen Deboer had Washington rolling but left for Alabama. The point being that coaches leave despite the fact that their current team had achieved success. Certainly there are intangible factors that we are not privy to. These discussions are just opportunities to read tea leaves, understanding the subjectivity.
  11. Saban had LSU rolling when he left, one year removed from a national championship and coming off a 9-3 season. That argument isn’t persuasive to me. If he’s trying to set his son up to take over, that is a stronger argument, but isn’t dispositive in my view. Fair points to argue, though.
  12. I’m not sure I understand your point. My current position isn’t relevant. You can point to lots of athletes that chase their dream jobs which typically coincide with their hometown teams. And, just to be clear, I’d listen if the Astros or Dodgers called..
  13. IU is a better gig than Auburn as a basketball school. Pearl knows that. And Pearl has expressed his affection for the IU job. If the Cubs offered me the opportunity to play 2B at half my current salary I’d take it. If IU is indeed Pearl’s dream job, he wouldn’t even have to worry about a salary decrease. It would be a no-brainer I would think. But I could be wrong.
  14. “A Michigan team will only be coached by a Michigan man,” paraphrasing Bo Shembechler when he showed Frieder the door.
  15. As soon as I heard about Woodson’s “retirement”, I reached out to the one person I knew was connected to IU leadership circles. They said Pearl would be our next coach without batting an eyelash. I dismissed it, thinking they really knew as much (meaning very little) as me. I may have been too hasty.
  16. Instead of tracking flights, what is the possibility that someone sends Stevens some complimentary Mentos, but replaces one with an Apple AirTag?
  17. You may be correct that Stevens won’t be IU’s next coach. But I disagree with how dismissive you are about the value of the IU job vs. running the Celtics. It’s not cognitive dissonance, it’s a point of view.
  18. Thanks for the welcomes. The most curious part of this process for me has been the absolute silence from the administration. I respect that they don’t want to dance on Woody’s grave, and I certainly understand the complexities of candidates currently coaching and under contract, but you’d think there would be some mainstream reports digging in and we’ve seen next to nothing. Kudos to the administration, but it doesn’t help my impatience which obviously should be their number 1 concern.
  19. I’ve been lurking here for a couple of days and have really enjoyed the read. Place me in the category of hoping for Stevens but pessimistic about the chances. Brad seems like a straight shooter to me and his V-Day comment, while not as staunch as the Masshole proclamation, suggests to me that he is out. I pray I’m wrong. But for those that don’t understand why he’d leave the NBA front office of one of its premier teams, I’d just argue that he has a chance to be a legend. Nobody will remember the president of the Celtics who helmed a handful of championships, but Brad could own Indiana. He could have a statue. He could have the new basketball stadium named after him. But, he seems like a good man with little ego unlike us mere mortals.
