  1. These cases generally get expedited during the spring because of the nature of roster construction and fall camps. Players and coaches need to know relatively quickly whether a guy is eligible. I'm cautiously optimistic about this process. Good chance the NCAA denies the request, but Goode's team is already saying they'll take this to court if that occurs. Not sure if y'all have been following much lately, but the NCAA typically doesn't fare well in court. The main argument they'd have against him receiving a waiver is that he returned from his injury. But the courts would call into question whether that is a fair metric, as they have done in past decisions. Whether a player returns or not, if he played few enough games to receive a redshirt, it should be awarded. I have a relatively good feeling Goode will get his fifth year, but it's definitely gonna take some time to play out if the NCAA fights it.
  2. Dakich with another dime
  3. Queen is so good man. No reason we should've lost that recruitment. Woodson is a bum.
  4. It's best for everyone that Queen didn't come here, but man watching him and Boogie make big play after big play in this tourney pisses me off. Woodson is such a bum, man. Did the absolute bare minimum in recruiting. It's incredible we brought in the talent that we did (I know he had help but still).
  5. I don't know if I agree with that. It was circulating last year that Dusty was ready to make the jump to a higher tier program, and there were multiple people in the agent world (Trilly, Rabjohns, others) reporting that he was interested in the Indiana job; some folks even went so far as to say he might hold out for it (though obviously he didn't). But that was the perception at the time -- that this was his dream job and would have come here if we wanted him. And I believe what fueled those rumors was Dolson backchanneling to gauge his interest. Which I know for a fact happened.
  6. Excited for DDV so don't mistake this comment for buyer's remorse there or anything. But Indiana hasn't made a Sweet 16 in 9 years, meanwhile Purdue just went to their 6th in 8 years and Michigan is about to make the S16 in year one under Dusty May -- after winning the BTT, also in his first year, something Indiana has never done. It's just pathetic how bad this program has been for so long. Again, I am excited for the DeVries era and hope that it works out long term. But damn IU has been such a joke for two decades.
  7. not sure if the typo is intentional or not but i like this spelling better than the original
  8. Shalooby’s is an inside joke that originated on Twitter back in the fall during football season. National CFB media folks were tweeting about wanting to visit Bloomington for a football game and asked for recommendations. A longtime Bloomington/IU twitter personality asked AI what it would recommend and it gave some of the classic recs, but it hallucinated and recommended a (fake) restaurant called Shalooby’s, known for its wet sandwiches. And it just devolved into a meme from there. There’s now a Shalooby’s Twitter account and Upland Brewing even made a limited time Shalooby’s lager in partnership with Hoosier Hills Food Bank. The whole thing’s ridiculous but hysterically funny. And has even had tangible real-world effects lmao https://btownmoose.com/2024/10/24/shaloobys/ https://uplandbeer.com/beers/shaloobys/
  9. To me, it's a great sign that WVU fans are angry about this. It means they really wanted DeVries to stay, and they're forced to come up with QAnon conspiracy theories to explain why he'd leave. Their pride is obviously hurt -- especially considering the fact that we didn't give him that big of a pay raise from what he was getting at WVU, and apparently they were willing to pay him as much as we are. And he still left, because the resources at IU give him an opportunity to coach at a higher level, and that's something he clearly values and desires. WVU fans are this year's JMU fans. Bitter over losing a coach who jumped to a better opportunity, and smearing his character in the process. I don't know if you guys recall, but JMU fans spread all sorts of BS about Cignetti when he took the IU job. This is hardly any different.
  10. My understanding was that he dragged his feet, whereas DeVries was enthusiastic about coming to Indiana from the jump and showed no reservations. I think he desperately wanted to be back in the Midwest, and the opportunity to coach somewhere like Indiana is incredibly rare and appealed to him. No one knows what the future may hold, and it's possible that a job of this caliber would never be available to him again. Some coaches can get pigeon-holed into certain jobs, like Chris Collins at Northwestern, and struggle to break out of that tier. He was smart to jump at the first big opportunity he could get. McCollum is a very good coach, but seemed to either A) doubt his ability to lead a program like Indiana, or B) just really loves Iowa and wants that job more. Bottom line, we got the guy who wanted to be at Indiana more. That counts for more than many know.
  11. lmao just now noticed your signature, you're welcome for that hahaha
  12. Let's hope West Virginia can outbid Iowa for McCollum
  13. I actually had the same thought. Knight really lost his edge those last few years.
  14. I had a joke lined up then remembered the mods would see it lol
  15. My brother-in-law works for a firm based out of SLC founded by a bunch of BYU tech bros. The entire board are BYU boosters and ridiculously loaded. TBH I'm surprised it's taken this long for BYU to start fully weaponizing their resources. I expect them to be a serious power in football and basketball in the coming years.
  16. I think they're poised to become a powerhouse with their NIL resources. Read somewhere that they're paying close to $7 million for Dybantsa. Tons of rich Mormons in SLC and Provo lol
  17. Every Indiana fan that had a panic attack over the Brad Brownell rumors can feel incredibly vindicated today lol What a putrid performance man. Woof.
  18. I could be wrong, but I genuinely believe the "mystery candidate" was just DeVries all along. He was the best kept secret of this entire coaching search until it very suddenly became evident he was the guy. Because of the way everyone had been fooled by the Brownell and McCollum smoke, reporters were hesitant to assume DeVries was for sure Dolson's pick and assumed that there was still some other candidate out there that no one knew about. Pretty funny if you ask me. Hell of a job by Dolson and TurnkeyZRG.
  19. Future IU head coach Brad Brownell showing us why he was Dolson's top choice today
  20. High Point needs to work on high pointing the basketball. Geez this team sucks at rebounding lol
  21. Fair enough, but again most Locked On guys are student reporters. They aren't insiders who've been doing this for years and have a whole bunch of connections and sources. It's plausible that it's true. But being a podcaster doesn't automatically make him credible.
  22. High Point needs to work on high pointing the ball. Geez this team can't buy a rebound
  23. I wouldn't worry too much about what WVU folks say at this point. First off, the Locked On folks are not plugged in insiders. They're independent media guys (usually student reporters) who just report what they hear. Secondly, WVU fans are bitter over this and have been stoking rumors of DeVries conspiring to screw their school this season on his way out. I expect more than one transfer from the WVU roster to join him in Bloomington. Wouldn't be surprised if he brings a couple of his HS recruits over as well. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
