  1. I'm not saying that if DeVries never wins a BTT during his tenure in Bloomington that it would be considered a failure. There's plenty of different metrics that can add up to a successful tenure. Bob Knight was 1-3 in the BTT (granted he only coached in 3 of them so it's not a fair sample size) but the point nonetheless is that that's the worst BTT win% of any IU head coach. However, hardware matters. Winning tournaments matters. Being the best at something matters. It will always matter. And nowhere will care more deeply or celebrate more passionately a team that can win any sort of major championship, whether it's the Big Ten regular season/tourney title or national title. Any coach that can do that will immediately become a hero to Hoosier Nation.
  2. with a glass of Chianti hopefully no cork taint
  3. Seen it many times, many places (including on this thread), from reputable sources that Drew Adams is joining DeVries' staff.
  4. If I remember correct, DeVries had 2 SoCal kids committed to play for him at WVU. Seems like SoCal is an area he likes to recruit for whatever reason. Must have good connections there or something.
  5. SIAP but I've seen numerous rumors that Drew Adams has been hired as an assistant. He was seated besides Coach DeVries at the state finals, chatting it up much of the evening. If any of you recall, Adams was the assistant at Cincinnati that has a close relationship with Flory Bidunga, and many thought Flory would end up at Cincinnati with him.
  6. I'm inclined to agree, though I'd put the IU job above UCLA at this point in time. Historically, sure you could argue that all of UCLA's championships trump Indiana's, but you could make that argument about everyone else and shove them at the top. What makes UCLA a great job is the championships and location (lots of hoopers in SoCal, not a lot of recruiting competition in the immediate area). However, UCLA boosters have not stepped up in a significant way to empower the basketball program. They can put together a solid squad, but they remain outside the top echelon of programs. And fan support has wavered in recent years. UCLA is still a very good job, and being in the Big Ten helps. But in terms of current fan and donor support, it is not quite in the same tier as Indiana.
  7. I'd wager we've seen more than one iteration of Tyme on this board. Same goes for SDB. Those two love to interject themselves into every IUBB discussion and behave as if they are the preeminent authority on Indiana basketball. Even though both have gotten many things wrong in the past and just delete the old tweets and pretend it didn't happen. lol
  8. I watched the YouTube version of this and all the WVU fans in the replies are still crying about tampering and how Tucker DeVries isn't really injured... even though these guys literally debunked those theories in the podcast lol
  9. Of those, I do not think Mullins is realistic at this point. Would take something drastic, like Luke Murray getting hired away. Which is still plausible but unlikely.
  10. Surely by now we have been able to narrow down Tyme's identity lol I had a theory for a while that he was Adam Howard, but he was still somewhat defending Woody even after Howard was fired. I've heard theories that it's Kenya. I'm not so sure it's someone that high profile, but it's definitely someone within the program.
  11. Yeah I believe that's true. But the fact that they seemed to be checked out and uninterested in helping Indiana win down the stretch, even for their coach -- who everyone claims is beloved by his players -- tells me a lot about their character, in my opinion. Certainly Woodson is more to blame than anyone for how his tenure and how this season went. I'm not trying to shift blame on/off anyone here; there's plenty to go around. I'm just saying that individual character matters more than just stats and talent, and I'm uninterested in rooting for guys like that.
  12. Oh my God we're still on this lol, I figured we'd discussed and moved on hahaha If DeVries doesn't work out (though I believe he will) I look forward to Bradposting with you all again in a few years. lmao
  13. that last part lmao
  14. Is it weird that I'm pining for Chester Frazier to come to Indiana? Feels wrong lol
  15. Any word on what Frazier is doing? Seems like he's getting passed over for the WVU HC job.
  16. That's the stupidest thing to me about this mentality. It's so ridiculously short-sighted. You only get ~4 years of eligibility and you wasted one doing nothing. Now one of your four years will earn you very little. Congratulations, you played yourself.
  17. Not sure if I've posted this here before, but a good buddy of mine who lives in Bloomington had lunch at Buffalouie's a couple months back, in January I believe, and Myles Rice, Kanaan Carlyle, and Bryson Tucker there. He intentionally sat at a table within earshot of them (as any sane, rational Hoosier fan would do) and overheard them discussing all the backlash against Woody (this was after the Illinois game) and basically talking sh!t about him and the staff. And Carlyle said, verbatim, "I'm just here for the bag" and Rice and Tucker both nodded their heads and laughed. Get them out. All of them. Goode is the only (potential) returnee who showed any heart this season. He's the only one I'd want back too.
  18. Everyone's reported Tucker DeVries in the portal as a formality. It's a foregone conclusion that he's joining his dad.
  19. Hopefully just a bad stinger. Looked painful.
  20. There's just not a strong legal argument in their favor other than "this is what we've always done." That hasn't worked well for them in court in recent years.
  21. It's simple: if he can be a role-player like Anthony Leal was for this team, he's absolutely a must-get player. Guys like that don't grow on trees. From what I understand he's a very tough, scrappy defender and plays unselfish team ball. Indiana's gonna get a lot of looks from some big time players. Enright won't be a starter, but that doesn't mean he can't contribute to winning in a major way. Not everyone on a winning team is an all-conference caliber player. I trust Coach DeVries' judgment.
  22. https://x.com/RealRobReinhart/status/1904251935709929546 "#BREAKING: The NCAA and Raleigh police have launched an investigation into UConn’s athletic department, per source. Following the Huskies loss to Florida, Dan Hurley went on an explicative filled rant that was caught on video by a member of the media. UConn’s Director of Men’s Basketball Communications Bobby Mullen then demanded the deletion of the video and threatened the reporter, saying that he’d, “ruin his life.” I’m told the NCAA is considering a possible postseason ban and loss of scholarship spots. Local law enforcement is also investigating the matter, as making threats is illegal in North Carolina." Absolutely bonkers if anything significant comes of this. Just wild. Edit: nevermind, after a brief investigation I can confirm this guy is a hack
  23. Interesting. We all paid close attention to wins and losses, but ignored who those wins and losses came against. Iowa will want to play a reasonably tough non-conference schedule, if for no other reason to build a tournament résumé. I doubt they'll schedule only cupcakes. Maybe in his first season.
