Hence Mike Woodson last year. People absolutely loved the recruits he brought in through the portal yet they weren’t a team at all. DeVries won’t settle for that. He is building a team which takes time and I’m willing to trust his eyes/judgment over anyone on this board including myself lol

But how do you know they won’t be? Also, wouldn’t you rather him shoot high for guys like Murphy even if they aren’t attainable or go instantly for next tier down to more realistic targets? It takes two to tango. How do you know DeVries isn’t doing/saying everything right yet for whatever reason they just decide they don’t want to come to IU. Growing up you always hope to get the attractive cheerleader and ask her to prom but if she’s not interested in you then dang you didn’t hit who you were targeting so then you had to find someone else and quick but you’re going against the qb for the services and he offers the exact same thing you do but is currently more successful and you’re just now getting to be known. If IU has a great season with whoever he gets then going forward that will make IU more attractive to players/assistants going forward. This year he has to do what he can/get who is actually willing to come here but that takes time and you people have zero patience.

But he’s not competing with other teams in the conference from a recruiting perspective so resources mean nothing vs. other big ten teams. On top of that the top big ten teams have had coaches in position for a long time now. DeVries has to still get 11 more players and hasn’t hired a full staff yet. Just because the portal closes doesn’t mean the team has to be built. When you move into a new job and the last three people have g gotten it right would you expect to be judged 1 month in? Kentucky has 2 spots left. Louisville might not have any but once those teams finish their rosters it will be much easier for him to build his team. Everyone has to also understand he targeted Murphy and Texas Tech guy and didn’t get them so it’s hard to build that roster without those assistants and their connections when filling so many spots. He just started working with KJ this weekend so he has to decide which of KJ’s connections he wants to pursue for the team he is trying to build. He doesn’t want to have to do this every year so he also has to find kids that can be multiple year players so he’s only adding 4-6 each year. For people who are upset about Adams hire I get it but if he truly has Indiana connections then DeVries specifically said IU has to get back to recruiting Indiana hard so Adams makes Perfect sense.

Exactly!!!! He is a very particular coach who wants a certain roster and is building a program not a singular team. The same people that are complaining about us not getting anyone would also complain if we got grant gelon type players

Jeff Goodman is just a dumb dumb lol. How many times does he think it’s ok to literally keep interrupting DG when he’s talking. They literally have on DG as a guest. Your job in media when having a guest is to ask the question and let them give long winded answers then ask the follow up questions. Goodman will never be good at what he does because he wants to hear himself speak more than his guests on his show. He would actually probably be good at his job if he just had his own show with no one ever on and no co-hosts
