  1. Brad Brownell inherited a Clemson program coming off of three consecutive NCAA tourney appearances. He proceeded to make a grand total of three tourney appearances in his first THIRTEEN seasons there. I am happy for his success the last two years. But I would rather take a chance on an up and comer than hire known mediocrity.
  2. Leal is truly tremendous on defense. Both individually and in the way he communicates with his teammates. I still think he needs to look at the basket occasionally on offense. But I'm not going to complain with these results.
  3. It will be forever baffling to me that he saw the results of the Ware-Reneau-Mgbako frontcourt last season, and decided "let's do that again, except with a more traditional center that doesn't offer any of Ware's outside game". It's water under the bridge now though. I have liked his changes recently and I hope he goes out with a bang.
  4. That's one of the more impressive performances we've had in years. Washington is not good, but it was still an important road game and we dominated start to finish.
  5. I don't think our pitch to Dusty May is primarily about money. It's about returning home. He will have lots of money and resources at either school. If he still dreams about coaching his alma mater, only IU can offer that. If he doesn't, then why leave a place where he's already having success?
  6. Thank you. I find the insider reports here entertaining, even though I take them with a grain of salt. But "Dolson met with AAU coaches and told them he was hiring Stevens" might be the most outlandish report I've ever heard, and that's saying something.
  7. No. His conduct on that night makes him unfit to be the coach of IU. The fiancee ultimately deciding not to cooperate with the investigation doesn't change that. My point is, he's not some down on his luck guy who just needs a second chance. In fact, he suffered very little consequences given the gravity of his charges, and he was already given that second chance almost immediately.
  8. Chris Beard was hired to coach Ole Miss for $3.25M / year, less than 3 months after being fired for cause from Texas due to his arrest for felony domestic violence. He's doing just fine without us on the "getting second chances" front.
  9. I hope we always have at least one marquee opponent on the home non-con slate. As a season ticket holder, this year was super disappointing. I'd also rather watch us in a feast week style tourney on TV, than have a bunch of home games vs Northeastern Wyoming State lumped into my season ticket package.
  10. Plenty of guys on IU's roster could be winning players in a different environment. Myles Rice already showed it last season. For example, Mackenzie Mgbako is not my favorite player on this roster. I find him incredibly frustrating. But it's easy to imagine him contributing to a winner under a different coach who makes him guard 4s, and doesn't tolerate poor effort or jacking contested 17 footers.
  11. That's a pretty cool stat. Two of the three are from Indiana. One of them is an IU grad, and the other is the son of a former IU football player. Who is the third?
  12. Rice stunk tonight, but has had his moments this season. I wouldn't lump him in with Carlyle.
  13. Who is blaming the refs or whining? It's a tough call, one of many in a close game. Sucks but that's how it goes.
  14. Rice elevated and was shooting above Harris. Harris went fairly straight up, yes, but directly into the arms of a guy taking a jump shot. It's a foul. It was just kind of an awkward one, and the road team is not going to get the benefit of the doubt in that situation.
  15. That was probably the most fun half of the season. Love it, please keep it up fellas.
  16. We might have fired him after the two straight missed tourneys. Maybe not though - he was still really young, he was an alum, and he had multiple very successful seasons before that downturn. We absolutely would not have fired him at any point in years 9-12, when he went 12-6 / 12-6 / 14-4 / 15-3 in the Big Ten, even though he was underperforming in the tourney.
  17. Yep. After I typed that about Painter, I realized it is equally true for Curt Cignetti.
  18. What is your point? Mike Woodson needs support and a few more years to change his approach? Maybe he'll have it figured out by the time he's 70.
  19. I am a season ticket holder, and I think about this almost every time I drive down for a game. So glad I spent a few thousand bucks and who knows how many hours to support this team. It would feel so different if we had made a move in the offseason.
  20. Matt Painter's absolute best quality is that he knows exactly what he is looking for in a player. He does not care at all about recruiting rankings. When he finds what he is looking for, he signs the kid up and develops him. I would so love for IU to be that kind of program again. (I just threw up in my mouth a bit typing that)
  21. I'm not going to read the whole thread, but the frustrating thing is that Dusty May would not have said no 10 months ago, when I and many others wanted to get him. It was obvious where the Woodson era was heading. But we chose to draw it out to protect the vanity of a few old men in positions of power.
  22. I have always felt like Woody would finish the season. That said - Chris Holtmann last year is a reasonable parallel. He got fired on Valentine's Day, sitting at 14-11, 4-10 Big Ten, and 2-8 in his last 10. IU could easily lose our next 4, which would put Woody at 14-11, 5-9 Big Ten, 2-8 in his last 10. We'd be heading into a home game on Valentine's Day vs UCLA, with a week-long break after that.
  23. Tucker has potential, but what guard skills does he have currently? Shooting? Playmaking ability? He's at 6% from three, and has 12 total assists all season. He will not be a positive offensive player until he develops a three point shot and/or the ability to get to the rim, instead of hunting mid range jumpers.
  24. I think you have it backwards. The people with power at IU have been around since the Knight days, and they are the ones who put us in this situation. The students (younger fans) are the ones who chanted to fire him
  25. I want Dusty, and I wanted him last offseason. But I hope people don't chant that, I think Dusty might take it as disrespectful and a turn-off. I do hope May gets a big ovation when he comes out though.
