For real man - give it up and stop digging regarding Brad. That’s all anyone wants. As I said from the beginning, I know unequivocally that Brad was not interested in the job. But even for those who never believed me, it should be very obvious in light of the totality of what is out here and the way the story has changed that you were either lying or being lied to and believing the wrong people. I believe it’s the latter because I choose to assume good faith. But it’s one or the other, without question.

Truly embarrasses me every time. The whole idea that someone who leads the most important organization and basketball and is already a super fan of a different college program and went to college at a different school but still somehow wants to leave his job and move his family to coach at some place because he used to go to games there as a kid???? It’s just so preposterous and national media rightly chastises the fan base for it.

What is fishy? It’s very unusual to make a hire this early. This is par for the course. They’re very likely waiting on a certain coach’s seasons to be over.

No. I’m saying you can’t simultaneously argue that the reason there are no leaks is because the NDAs are likely ironclad but then also imply you’re somehow in the know.

He’s insisted or at least implied dozens of times in this thread that he is hearing Stevens chatter. And then he insists there are rock solid NDAs preventing leaks. Which is it? The Stevens stuff is looney tune world. Always has been. In McCollum we trust.

Have reviewed approx 1000 NDAs and have never once seen a liquidated damages clause like that. The irony is you’re telling us everyone involved has an NDAs that would close millions to violate and that’s why there are no Stevens leaks but also insisting you somehow are in the know despite this. Put two and two together everyone.

He’s a phenomenal coach and an A+ hire from a basketball perspective. He is also very much not the guy I’d prefer to be the face of the school.

Hiring a guy with just three top 25 teams in 23 years as a D1 head coach - and zero top 15 teams - over a sky-high-upside candidate like McCollum, simply because it feels “safer,” would be so ****** stupid.

Look, I don’t like Goodman any more than the next guy, probably less. But he would not put that out there unless he was certain. I’m maybe a tad surprised TJ is out already, but otherwise, none of these eliminations should be unexpected to any fan thinking dispassionately about the job.

Providing fair and reasonable context around something you assert is a “positive” is not unfairly “discounting it” just because it undermines your assertion.

Possible (though as I’ve said, I can tell you it’s not Brad). But again, if so, why? What would be the reason for such secrecy if it’s someone from the nba world? Maybe you don’t formally announce it, but surely there’d be leaks because keeping it secret doesn’t matter that much when the outgoing coach is already known to be “retiring”. The earlier you can start fundraising off the back of the new guy, the better. The earlier prospexrive transfers know, the better. (This is why the duke assistant is already known to be taking the Miami job and why he’s not even going to stay on duke staff through the tourney. Earlier it’s announced, the better…only reason you wouldn’t is that it’s a current college head coach.)

If you think about it, the only way it makes sense for it to be this quiet is that there is a handshake deal with someone who is a current college head coach, and it’ll get fully worked out when his team is done. If you’re casting a wide net and talking to lots of candidates, there’s gonna be some leaks here and there. If you’ve come to an agreement with anyone involved in the NBA, there’s zero reason for it to be so quiet (you obviously can’t wait for their season to be over, and Woodson and everyone already knows he’s out. So what would be the hold up? Nothing.) Logically, all that makes sense is that we have mostly a handshake deal with a current college head coach and will finalize/announce when his team is done. So who is it? Well, the bigger the name, the more likely there’d be a leak. There’s been nothing. So my guess is it’s a candidate like McCollum or Byington or Devries.

Someone walk me through the logic of flying into McCordsville to meet with IU. (Also, Bedford is not the regional airport closest to Brad’s house.)

My current wish list among those with any realistic chance (though admittedly some of these are quite unlikely): 1) Tommy L (by a mile) 2) Ben M 2) Drew (seems *super* unlikely) 3) Otz 4) McCasland 5) DeVries 6) Jans <HUGE GAP> 7) miscellaneous others 8) collins <gap> 9) Brownell Brownell is the disaster scenario in my opinion, and unfortunately it does seem somewhat likely

You don’t leave Arizona or Indiana for Gonzaga. Gonzaga’s an incredible program, but it’s great because they’ve got an elite coach who’s happy there. At the end of the day, it’s still a tiny private school in the middle of nowhere, and that matters from a resources perspective and it won’t be remotely the same level of program when few is gone.

Oh he’d be the home run of home runs. I’d take him over Otz and May in a heartbeat, and any other realistic option I can think of. His teams at AZ have been uniformly outstanding and it’s a fun brand of basketball without question. It’s not crazy if their NIL stinks.

Anyone have any insight into Arizona’s NIL situation? Under pre-NIL landscape, no chance in hell someone leaves a successful run at Arizona for IU, but given they’ve lost a few big name players to the portal in recent years (ballo being an obvious example), I can’t help but wonder if their NIL situation is weak enough that Tommy Lloyd would listen.
