Francis of Assisi I think

As a preacher I would love for our next coach to genuinely love Jesus in such a way that he does NOT have to preach sermons to his team or demand they go to church with him, but RATHER that they see he walks with integrity, class, and respect… that he treats everyone (from the 5star recruit to the water boy) with compassion and kindness. That he has a reputation for looking out for the good of others BUT also works hard and is willing to model self-sacrifice for the benefit of others. A saint once said, “Preach the word and when necessary use words.” It’s true we are hiring a coach, but there’s also more to life than basketball. So, I’d like a coach who will model the kind of values that make the world a better place.

what level of confidence would you say you have that BS is the coach next year based on the info you have currently? Not locking you in, just curious.

That date sounds suspect. Middle of a west-coast trip seems unlikely.

1. SD has been courting BS for over a year 2. SD and BS recently travelled to New Mexico together to visit the set of a tv show 3. They are closer than most recognize 4. 10 days ago talk began to heat up as we announced CMW’s imminent departure 5. Insiders claim SD has his man lined up 6. Throughout the week more and more chatter builds to the point that even skeptics, naysayers, and casual fans start to take note 7. More insiders arrive with corroborating information that continues to confirm that there is smoke coming from BS direction 8. the consensus is no announcement will be made before early to mid-March; the end of our season. 9. A few poster hint that it could be post All Star break at the earliest 10. things reach a fever pitch yesterday. 11. Negotiations go back and forth with IU agreeing to meet BS stipulations 12. Every insider chimes in, indicating we have our man. BS to IU is imminent 13. Our insiders run in different circles and hear from different sources— some from the Athletic Dept, some from boosters, some from board members 14. BUT early afternoon BS is no longer a candidate??? If BS wasn’t interested, why meet? If BS wasn’t interested why negotiate? If BS had two weeks why yesterday? If BS was a ‘no’ couldn’t he have been more definitive in his denial? I said yesterday that if BS signed, they have to announce quickly to protect the narrative. The only alternative is KAYFABE— to make things appear different than they actually are. WHY? We have a coach. It could be a humiliating distraction for him and the team. ALSO, BS and the All Star break is happening now. Would he want to make the weekend about him? Not likely. in my view the evidence is clear. Until we hire someone else; or BS says ‘I will not coach at IU last year,’ I will choose to BELIEVE he’s still in play.

I guess I’m just saying— if he hypothetically signed today and word leaked through donors or someone associated with the BOT the opportunity to control the narrative evaporates and it becomes a distraction. Larger outlets will start asking q’s, so I can’t imagine they hold off saying something for more than a couple days.

Yea, once he officially signs I don’t see how IU or the Celtics keep it under wraps enough that it wouldnt need to be addressed nationally in short order. A couple days at most. Too many people could talk and hijack the narrative which NO ONE would allow.
