I still think it’s Zeller when you think of the depths the program was coming out of. -

Also guys I don’t want to do any jinx but I did have a steak sandwich for lunch. No ketchup for my fries though. -

I agree. Cuban could’ve followed 2 weeks ago when IU was announced as a visit or could’ve followed in the fall when basketball season started. The fact it started today. That timing is suspicious and I’d venture to say the 2 have spoken directly. -

Back in the early pages of this thread I said we were long shots. I no longer believe long shots. Like you cautiously optimistic. -
I was really hopeful for Dingle. I don’t get why if you only have 1 year left to play would you go play for a team with no shot at winning even anything.

No diss taken I just thought you were under the impression that greater social flowing = lack of success lol. It would be nice of them to give us a time so I’m at least a little productive tomorrow. -

I don’t get this response at all? Are you saying that if a player has a social following they can’t win or be a good citizen? I guess you won’t like Gabe Cupps. It’s obvious to me that MM isn’t the type just trying to grow his social following during this process. His family is keeping it quiet. But for every MM there is probably someone like Hunter who is growing his platform. And I don’t blame the player for using their popularity to grow their brand and to get paid for it. They can do that and compete. -

Now in the NIL era and being able to earn income off of social followings, why wouldn’t these kids tease and gain followers like how Hunter did? How many followers do you think he gained from Maryland, Georgetown, Kentucky, and Kansas fans? Some surely unfollowed but I’d bet a ton of Michigan fans still follow just to hate on him. Point being I think you’ll see a lot of players start doing this. The next time a big name player enters the transfer portal or a top recruit decommits we should watch the following count across Twitter and Instagram. -
Arthur Kaluma from Creighton entering portal. 6’7 220. Might be more small ball 4. Testing the nba draft still though. Shot 31% from 3 last year

To me this commitment would mean so much more than just getting MM. -Winning a head to head vs Kansas, getting the type of player who seemingly has avoided the big ten over the last decade, and the boost it would give again to IU/Woody overall in recruiting. The boosters would be ready with NIL in the future knowing Woody and staff can compete with the top programs and win recruits. I think this has the potential to have the type of impact that the Zeller commitment had in terms of overall program booster and that’s not even taking into account MM’s play on the court. -

My point is does Mike Woodson have more knowledge on how to motivate and knows what type of work ethic goes into becoming a Melo after spending 4 seasons with him or does Self know with 1 year of 18-19 year old Wiggins what it takes to become what Wiggins has reached? Not to mention Mike had an 11 year career himself. If a player had the same exact NBA career that Mike had they’d probably make over 100 million in todays NBA. He KNOWS what it takes to train and make the NBA but also to have. SUSTAINABLE career. -

This recruitment is so hard bc every single tidbit has been told to ignore but some actually were true, like Rabby saying they were going to cancel Louisville. The IU visit was not immediately on the heels of the KU visit. They could’ve canceled after still stating they were going to take it. I’m ready to be let down but I’m still feeling a little optimistic here. -

I said they haven’t had bad careers. If you can hang around the NBA for a decade you’re going to end up making close to 100 million. Nothing to sniff at. Again I’m saying to myself help me reach Melo not Wiggins. Maybe that’s just me. -

No doubt but if I’m a top 10 player high school player I’m hoping for better careers than Kelly Oubre, Josh Jackson, and Svi Mykhailiuk. Not that they’ve had bad careers but even the most successful, Wiggins, in some NBA circles hasn’t performed to his draft position. Self does always get these long lengthy wings but has he actually improved much of the draft stock of them? I’d be interested in knowing on the one and done wings he’s gotten what they were projected before the season and after their lone season in Kansas. -

Yeah that seems relatively negligible in my opinion when the argument some are making is that he won’t get as much playing time. While true, 27 mpg is still plenty. What does Torvik say for shots/points for each? I’ve never used the site so don’t know what’s all included as far as stats -

I think he could see the same amount of playing time at both schools. Where I think IU has the advantage is the amount of shots and plays that would be called for him over Kansas. Self has had a lot of big men that he’s played through, and he may have his best one yet. Just guessing without looking at any numbers of prior season stats but seems like he could get twice as many play calls and shots at IU over Kansas. -

If I had an agent that was telling me I had to go one place I’d be finding myself a new agent if I liked other places better. Agent is there to advise not dictate -
They should all tell him for every day he delays he loses 100k

I like your optimism but you speak it as fact. I think that’s just your opinion. Correct me if I’m wrong. My opinion is we are long shots. It’s clear Adidas wants him from his list of schools. The question is does he want Adidas and how much are they offering. All of the schools on his list have NIL. This is in regards to Mgbako and I know this isn’t the thread. so back on topic I think there is a much greater reason to be optimistic about other players in the portal. I really like Dingle and hope that we are able to land him. I think other intriguing name over the next week would be Miles Kelly. He hasn’t entered the portal. Declared for draft but from what I can tell isn’t listed as a top prospect. Georgia Tech has had a coaching change and roster has turned over a ton. Ya connection to Georgia. Shot 38% on over 7 3’s/game. Listed in GT website as 6’6 175. Point being I think we fill the last 2 spots from the portal. So many things will happen between now and May 11 when the portal “closes” imo
-
Seems like if IU were able to secure a transfer like Dingle prior to Mgbako committing anywhere that would help with him. Or vice versa. But I just think we’re long shots with Mgbako.

I’ve been bored so I’ve looked at the list of kids who are most likely to withdraw from the NBA draft and guessed on who then might also transfer. Didn’t consider any that will return to a good team. Here are the list of names I find intriguing and a few stats Dillon Jones - Weber State 6’6 235 - avg almost 17 & 11 last year. Shot 31% from 3 last year but 35% year before. Justin Powell - Washington State 6’6 205 - would be 4th school in 4 years. Shot over 42% from 3 on over 5 attempts per game Zyon Pullin - UC Riverside 6’4 205 - avg 18/4/4 last year. 39% from 3 but only took 2.3/game Ithiel Horton - UCF 6’3 200 - former Pitt teammate of Xavier. Shot 35% from 3 last year but is a career 38% on close to 6 attempts per game Brandin Podziemski - UCSB 6’5 200 - former Illini from IL. Avg almost 20/9/4 last year. Shot 44% from 3 on almost 6/game Jordan Dingle - Penn 6’3 200 - avg 24pts and shot over 35% on almost 8/game from 3. Casey Morsell - NC State 6’3 196 - avg 11/5 and shot over 41% from 3 on 5.6/game

Tulane has a couple of intriguing players that entered draft that aren’t shown as top 100 prospects per ESPN. Neither have entered the portal. Jaylen Forbes 6’5 192 18.5pts 5rbs 43/86/39 on over 7 - 3 attempts/GM Sion James 6’6 220 9.7pts 4.8rbs 3.4ast not a great 3 shooter but shot 31% on over 2.6 attempts/game
